Adam + Eve house is the full transformation of a 3 storey London Mews House into a modern home filled with natural light and views to the sky. A new blue steel staircase threads from the ground floor to the second floor, uniting the volume and creating an event in the access up to the top floor. The steel treads are welded together with all the welds ground smooth in order to create the appearance of a folded metallic paper suspended between the floors. The guardrail is made of stainless steel rods, bolted to each tread with the bolt head countersunk into the thickness of the tread to enhance the vision of a suspended folded sheet of paper. @britishhomesawards #BritishHomesAwards #BHA24 #Sophie NguyenArchitects #HomeTransformation #Light #Architecture #Design #Spacious Sophie Nguyen Architects Architect Assistant: Alexandra Trasnea Structural Engineers: Graphic Structures Contractor: Cape Design and Build Ltd Steel Staircase: ZedWorks Design Ltd Photographs: Hufton and Crow

Waffle slab is often required in civil engineering projects due to its unique structural and economic advantages, particularly in situations where traditional slabs may not meet the design requirements efficiently
Waffle Slab: Strength and Aesthetics in Construction A waffle slab is a reinforced concrete slab system with a grid-like pattern of ribs on its underside, resembling a waffle. This unique design enhances structural efficiency, making it ideal for large spans in commercial and industrial buildings. The ribs reduce the slab's weight while maintaining strength, enabling it to support heavy loads with minimal material use. Waffle slabs are often used in parking structures, airports, and malls due to their ability to span large areas without the need for numerous columns. They also allow for creative ceiling aesthetics, as the exposed grid pattern adds architectural appeal. Efficient, durable, and visually striking, waffle slabs combine engineering innovation with design versatility, making them a popular choice in modern construction. Waffle reinforced concrete slab known by advantages for commercial ,auditorium ,residential projects like beautiful ribs designes, longer span bneficiaries and costly effectiveness. it is difficult to cast it and higher skilleness of labour required and mostly it may be time taking design .Although it may be difficult to define cost of slab may be less with respect to another slabs.its self weight may be less but can't accepted where movement of heavy load over the slab .

Innovative Construction: Hidden Beams in Post-Tension Slabs 👷♂️ On-site today, we integrated hidden beams within our post-tension slab design to enhance structural efficiency and maintain aesthetic appeal. What Are Hidden Beams? Hidden beams, also known as concealed beams, are integrated within the slab's depth. They offer structural support without protruding, allowing for a flat ceiling finish that suits modern architectural designs. Benefits of Hidden Beams: 1) Aesthetic Flexibility: They enable a seamless ceiling finish, ideal for open-plan spaces and modern architecture. 2) Space Optimization: By incorporating beams within the slab, floor-to-ceiling heights can be maximized without compromising on structural integrity. 3) Load Distribution: Hidden beams effectively distribute loads across the slab, ensuring stability and strength. 4) Our Experience: Implementing hidden beams in our post-tension slab has provided both structural and design advantages, offering our clients the perfect blend of form and function. Have you utilized hidden beams in your projects? Share your experiences or thoughts in the comments below! #ConstructionInnovation #HiddenBeams #PostTension #StructuralEngineering #ArchitectureDesign

Our latest cladding project in partnership with Alucraft Ltd demonstrates the application of MMC and offsite principles to façade design and construction really well. A bespoke rainscreen façade for Fifteen George’s Quay in Dublin has enhanced the aesthetic appeal of this landmark commercial building. The metal rainscreen has provided a robust, low-maintenance façade solution that meets the stringent performance requirements for a waterside location. The redevelopment of this prime commercial building included the addition of two new upper floors and the entire façade was replaced with a new envelope that successfully blends stone, metalwork and floor-to-ceiling glazing with panoramic views. Our aluminium cladding was finished in two shades of bronze and used to striking effect in vertical and horizontal rectilinear configurations which complement the stonework. Our advanced digital design and smart manufacturing processes combined with the high level of pre-assembly ensured a level of quality control and precision that would have been difficult to achieve on site. When considering my favorite application of aluminum in construction, I must highlight curtain wall systems. Firstly, aesthetically, I greatly appreciate curtain wall systems for their ability to create visually stunning facades, resulting in modern and eye-catching building exteriors. Moreover, aluminum's thermal properties, especially when combined with insulated glass, contribute significantly to minimizing heat transfer. This feature helps reduce the need for excessive heating and cooling energy, contributing to energy efficiency in buildings. Furthermore, aluminum is known for its durability and resistance to corrosion, making curtain wall systems built with aluminum frames long-lasting and low maintenance, which translates to cost savings over the lifespan of the building. Lastly, the customization and versatility offered by aluminum curtain wall systems are unparalleled. Architects and designers can leverage different profiles, finishes, and configurations, allowing for creative freedom and the ability to tailor the facade to meet specific design goals effectively.
