According to a recent survey, 9 out of 10 pension funds have underperformed a simple index tracker. The FTSE All Share tracker had seen 72 per cent of funds lacking by more than 10 per cent over the last decade. 🥇 Today, the updated Global Top 300 #PensionFunds #ranking for this year was published, compiled by the Thinking Ahead Institute of WTW, in collaboration with Pensions & Investments. The data shows that the top positions have undergone few changes, although there could be a change in leadership in the coming months.

These reforms should help to turn the tide of pension funds exiting UK investments. Visibility & accountability is vital to ensure pension funds focus on delivering for their pensioners and the UK. Comparison of returns is essential - small differences in annual performance makes a massive difference over a long time period. This is currently just for DC schemes, but should be extended to DB as well.

£50 billion of hard-earned pension funds could be in jeopardy Recent investigations by the Centre for Economics and Business Research have illuminated a daunting predicament facing the United Kingdom’s pension sector[1]. An alarming £50 billion of hard-earned pension funds could be in jeopardy, lost within neglected accounts or dispersed amongst a myriad of forgotten pots.

These seem to be small steps in a sensible direction for DC pension funds. The greater disclosure re investment performance will increase competition between pension fund providers and also increased portfolio allocation disclosures will enable beneficiaries to see how their funds are invested. For the good of the real economy and with the aim of higher investment returns we should want to see pension funds allocate a higher proportion of funds into UK based equity investments, from early stage to global leaders. #realeconomy #pensions https://lnkd.in/eptuBDSk
