Transcription: “Hello everyone! I am Loni Friedmann. (Shows name sign- L handshape making a circle on face.) I am collaborating with Sorenson regarding DeafBlind awareness week. I am DeafBlind. I want to give 4 tips on how to improve accessibility on social media for DeafBlind community to scroll on their phones with ease. First, captions, make sure it is clear to read just like this (points to captions). Please no colorful or cursive or aesthetic fonts. Fonts needs to be clear to read. (Below Loni shows three different fonts written DeafBlind and all of them are inaccessible to read and it’s crossed out.) Second, descriptions, photo and videos describing a person’s appearance and background. Third, transcriptions for videos with captions, it is basically a copy and paste of captions to read in one place. Fourth, ALT text, provides access for Blind community who have screen to text readers on their phones to listen to descriptions/transcriptions. ALT text is not accessible for most DeafBlind people. It does include Blind and some DeafBlind people. So all of those 4 tips will help make your content accessible on social media!”
