Random Thoughts A single idea may save the world In a cosmos draped in twilight hues, A figure born of stardust and the muse, Winds its limbs like ancient trees, Whispers secrets to the cosmic seas. From its fingertips, a lotus blooms, Exuding light to dispel the glooms; Each petal a testament, an arcane lore, A single spark can open doors. In this dance of shadow and flame, A thought can bear a world's new name. From such a seed, great forests grow, Where once lay naught but void and woe. Behold this tender, celestial birth, A gentle idea that might save the Earth. For in each mind, a universe swirls, Held in the heart of boys and girls. more images on nadavrock.com/ join waiting list for t-shirt of this design nadavrockprints.com/

The cave of Lascaux is a system of caves in Dordogne (France) where they were discovered in 1940, significant samples of the cave and paleolithic art, dated 17,000 or 18,600 years ago (Magdalenian period) according to the analysis of a rod of reindeer antler.

THE SPHERES OF HEAVEN Have you ever wondered what those beautiful spheres represent, discovered in numerous Dutch locations or public gardens or even sometimes to be found on a desk as a decorative object? Those spheres are called armillary spheres (lat. armillarius (dér. de armilla “iron ring, bracelet”) as well as terrestrial and celestial globes, which were frequently provided with a decorative stand representing either Atlas or the hero Hercules. Astronomers were able to use these instruments to predict star and constellation movements, determine the precise time the sun would rise and set, and find the position of the Earth by using the night sky. Muslim astronomers were the first to develop this unique instrument. Not only used by astronomers and scientists they have also featured in the works of philosophers, pedagogues working within literary genres, and in those of poets and authors treating philosophical and cosmological themes. Appreciated by rulers as symbols of worldly dominion, armillary spheres have also been employed to represent contemplation of Heaven (in saints' portraits and emblems), and universality. This could explain the other name given to them: the spheres of Heaven. Dante's nine spheres of Heaven are the Moon, Mercury, Venus, the Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, the Fixed Stars, and the Primum Mobile which are associated with the nine levels of the angelic hierarchy. It symbolizes the Self and the Unity, in that every one of its faces is but one, and all points on the circumference are at the same distance from the center. On my side, this fascinating object represents the point of intersection between Heaven and Earth, connecting the spiritual world to the scientific and rational one. They are interconnected and are not able to exist without each other. #sphereofheaven #armillary #armillarysphere #heaven #earth #unity #interconnection #netherlands #netherland https://lnkd.in/enPZDnYm

The Earth will always remain in her fullness with her potential for life. Humanity has the great ability through awareness to experience a bi-spiritual entity, on the one hand, we have the mind present to space and time. On the other, we have spirit within which is active through love and the invisible visible. https://buff.ly/33xhA76 #iconography

Could you be a genius cheater? In theory, maybe. It’s all relative! Perhaps that’s a little esoteric. Happy International Day for Monuments and Sites, or “World Heritage Day” – first celebrated by UNESCO in 1983 to promote awareness about the cultural heritage and diversity on the planet. Though not specifically linked to architecture, it certainly could carry consideration for lost structurally sound creations, like the Lighthouse of Alexandria, the Tower of Babel, and the Colossus of Rhodes. In more recent history, though, we’re talking about the Crystal Palace of London, Church of the Archangel Michael in Warsaw, or the Federal Coffee Palace of Melbourne. One of my personal favourites that I've set actual eyes on, and which has stood the test of time simply by way of being rebuilt over and over, across centuries, is the Todaiji Temple in Nara, Japan, which, even though its Daibutsudan’s 1962 reconstruction was merely two-thirds its original size, retained the record for world’s largest wooden building. It’s incredible to behold, though the free-roaming deer that nuzzle at the rice crackers in your pocket (Happy National Animal Crackers Day) are a little mangy. Hoofed ruminant ungulates aside, the Todaiji is ingenious in its existence. Even more genius was “e-equals-m-c-squared” Albert Einstein (theory of relativity, anyone?), who died on this day in 1955 at the age of 76. An amazing physicist, sure, but his womanising was a cut above. His first child born out of wedlock disappeared from records before he married the youngster’s mother – his love for whom he considered misguided, and a missed life of love for another. He then started an affair with his first and second cousin (on his mother’s side and father’s side respectively) – the same person – followed by his close friend’s niece; a married Austrian; a German socialite; a rich florist; a Jewish widow; and a Russian spy. Perhaps his greatest achievement was not so much his Nobel prize, rather his ability to escape the clutches of disgruntled conquests and concubines, their slighted spouses, and of course the likes of chlamydia. I guess he wasn’t simply "book smart"! #WorldHeritageDay #TodaijiTemple #AlbertEinstein

Imagine this: it's 1889 in Nampa, Idaho, and a team of workers drilling a water well stumble upon a discovery that defies everything we thought we knew about human history. Enter the Nampa figurine—a small, mysterious artifact unearthed by chance, and dated to a staggering 2 million years old. That’s right, 2 million years! To put this into perspective, this predates the earliest known human presence in North America by hundreds of thousands of years. So, what exactly is this enigmatic figurine? Carved from argilite and resembling a small human figure, it has ignited fierce debates among scientists and archaeologists. Some skeptics dismiss it as a misidentified geological formation, but isn't that just the easy way out? How could a tiny sculpture, found in rock layers estimated to be 2 million years old, be dismissed so readily? The Nampa figurine throws a wrench into our understanding of ancient civilizations and the timeline of human history. If this figurine is genuinely that old, it suggests a civilization far more advanced—and ancient—than we ever imagined. Could it be that our current historical framework needs a serious rewrite? Or is it simply a case of historical anomalies that will be swept under the rug? Stay tuned as we explore the intriguing mystery of the Nampa figurine and push the limits of what we know about history. 🌍🔍
