During this stage, the plastic flakes are heated until they melt, then extruded and cut into small pellets. These pellets are easier to handle and can be used as raw materials for new products. 6. Manufacturing: The recycled PP and PE pellets are used by manufacturers to create new products. These can range from new plastic containers and bottles to automotive parts, textiles, and construction materials and some other forms. The extent to which recycled content is used depends on the quality of the recycled pellets and the requirements of the final product. 7. Distribution and Use: The new products made from recycled PP and PE are distributed and sold to consumers, completing the loop of the circular economy. Bausano recycling extruder can process highly contaminated plastic materials Bausano's E-GO R single-screw extrusion line completely re-incorporates highly polluting plastic materials such as high-density polyethylene residues from milk, motor oil, shampoo and conditioner, soap, detergent and bleach containers Production Process. According to reports, the line can also process PP waste from lunch boxes, yogurt pots, syrup and medicine bottles, and bottle caps, as well as low-density polyethylene (LDPE) waste from plastic wrap, shopping bags, and squeezable bottles. According to Bausano, the E-GO R extruder is suitable for recycling both lightweight and high-moisture materials, as well as heavy films and materials with low moisture content. After crushing, the flaked and ground plastic is fed directly into the extruder via a force-feed system designed specifically for this application. During this process, volatiles and moisture are removed by a high-performance degassing system, preventing defects such as "bubbles" in the pellets, which are formed by gases in the starting mixture or during the extrusion step. Then, the extruded material enters the granulator head after being filtered. In addition, constant speed combined with advanced screw design ensures the highest standards of product quality. Liquid ring or immersion granulation systems complete the production line. The E-GO R line can also be equipped with Pausano’s Intelligent Energy System, a patent-pending system based on induction heating of the barrel that meets the needs of optimizing the plastic extrusion production process. Unlike traditional resistive systems, this system uses an alternating electromagnetic field for non-contact heating, delivering maximum performance and exceptional energy savings of up to 35%. "Only 5% of plastics produced in the United States have been recycled in recent years, a significant decrease from the trend of previous years," said Marco Masiero, R&D and Test Extrusion Manager. "In this sense, Pausano's mission to give new life to industrial and post-consumer waste becomes even more important, helping to drive the paradigm shift towards a circular economy. The circular #plastics economy is still “under construction.” A mechanical #recycling industry is developing, but recycled plastic pellets still account for a small part of polymer demand. The most recycled polymer is PET bottle resin. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a type of clear, durable and versatile plastic. A PET bottle is easily recognized and separated from the rest of the household waste by the consumer, with producers sponsoring bottle-collection schemes and incentives, such as using schools as collection points. Approximately 11% of PET is reused in bottle manufacture; a further 30% is downcycled to (chemically identical) polyester fiber use.
