People don’t stick to their gyms because of their goals, they stick to them because of the community they build. In this episode of Feel Strong Fitness, host Justin McClintock talks with Giancarlo Regni, founder of G-Strength, a pioneering small-group training facility in Philadelphia. With a background in fitness management and community building, Giancarlo reveals the often-overlooked truth about why gyms succeed—or fail. While people may walk into a gym with specific goals in mind, it’s the unexpected friendships and sense of belonging that truly keep them coming back. But let’s face it, most gyms miss the mark. They focus on space and equipment without considering how these elements can either foster or hinder community. At G-Strength, every detail is meticulously planned—not just for functionality but to create an environment where members feel connected. When gym spaces are tight, there’s no choice but to socialize, leading to stronger bonds and a better overall experience. And yet, so many gyms fail to grasp this simple concept, leading to high turnover and disengaged members. It’s not just about lifting weights; it’s about lifting each other up. 🎧 Don’t miss this episode if you want to know the real reason people stick with their gym—and why so many get it wrong. https://lnkd.in/dshcYEzu #FeelStrongFitness #GymCommunity #GStrength #FitnessGoals #GroupTraining #CommunityBuilding #GymManagement

This is an interesting concept! Very recently, there was a Twitter thread discussing “women’s only” gym spaces. The thread started due to a viral video of a gym interaction between a man and a woman, that ended up in a verbal altercation. The man in question wasn’t happy with the woman filming herself in the gym, even though he wasn’t in shot of where she had positioned her camera. The aggression in this man, sparked of a debate regarding a) filming in gyms and b) female only gym spaces. Female only gyms aren’t a new concept, but when you see altercations like this, you understand why some would advocate for a space just for women, as safety is paramount for many women. Also, there was a case where a law suit was brought against a gym who had included in their timetable a “female only time zone”. The gym in question lost the law suit and had to pay damages, as the argument was made that all members, irrespective of gender, had paid the same membership, so should have access to their facilities at all times. Whilst I understand what that gym platform was trying to do, but what differs from that gym policy, and this new GigaFit Gym space, is that GIgaFit has stated that its facilities is for women only, whereas the other space opened it for all, but then restricted its policy for all. It’s a tricky line when you are trying to create safe space for marginalised groups, because chances are, you may have a dominant group use examples of “unfairness” that typically and historically didn’t apply to them, as a means of justifying why including them also is unfair. This in its self is very odd, as they don’t consider why marginalised groups have had to create spaces for themselves in the first place. Sir, you were the problem, hence why we are now here!

As we approach the New Year, many will be setting new fitness goals in pursuit of health and well-being. However, it’s essential to reflect on how body representation shows up in our gyms and fitness spaces. For too long, the fitness industry has promoted a narrow "ideal" body type, which can create an environment where many feel excluded. But true fitness is diverse—it comes in all shapes, sizes, and abilities. This year, let’s challenge these stereotypes and create inclusive spaces that celebrate what bodies can do, not just how they look. A diverse, inclusive fitness community empowers us all to succeed, and that’s a goal worth working toward in 2025. #InclusiveFitness #DiversityInFitness #HealthyAtEverySize #NewYearNewGoals #HalfBellyHealth

When it comes to creating amazing gym spaces, I never let the exterior of a building deter the potential of what’s inside. Some of the most incredible gyms I’ve put together started with exteriors that made people think, “Who me, be a gym???” And I say, YES! It’s all about the vision and the faith my clients have in transforming these spaces into thriving fitness hubs. Together, we take these unexpected buildings and turn them into places where communities can come together, get fit, and stay motivated. Check out some of these transformations! You’ll be amazed at how we turned unlikely spaces into fantastic gyms that inspire and bring people together. Never judge a book by its cover. It's what's inside that counts—and inside, we create magic. #GymDesign #Transformation #FitnessCommunity #VisionToReality #FitnessInspiration #BuildingPotential #InnovativeSpaces

"Go Together! Unlocking Your Superpowers via Team Fitness" Working out with a team provides incredible physical and mental benefits compared to going solo. Numerous scientific studies show group exercise leads to better performance, quicker recovery, and higher adherence. From a physiological perspective, exercising in a group increases endurance. A study in the International Journal of Exercise Science found cyclists had significantly lower heart rates riding as part of a group versus individually. The shared experience allowed them to push harder while keeping perceived exertion lower. Group exercise also improves workout performance. A USC study revealed people performed better on cardiovascular fitness tests when exercising alongside a team versus alone. The presence of teammates enabled higher intensities for longer periods. Interestingly, even virtual team challenges can provide many of the same benefits. Research shows the accountability, motivation, and sense of community from being part of an online fitness group leads to greater adherence and better results. The benefits extend far beyond just physical performance. A Health Psychology review found adherence to group exercise was markedly higher due to the social support, positive motivation, and accountability from teammates. This is why Team Red, White & Blue's mission of "Enriching Veterans' Lives" through physical and social activity is so powerful. Their vision is to forge "America's Leading Health and Wellness Community for Veterans" by harnessing the proven advantages of team-based fitness. So, rally some friends or better yet join Team RWB and experience the power of team fitness! You'll push harder, recover faster, build lasting bonds, and have way more fun and support along the way. If you are going to go? Go Together! #veteranhealthandwellness #gotogether #bettertogther #community #battlebuddies #eaglefire (Photo Courtesy Team RWB - NYC)
