It is a HOT topic. AI, of course! In a recent Forbes article, they highlighted AI in QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) arena. Think McDonald's, Subway, etc. Here are 10 ways AI is transforming the QSR industry: 1. A conversational voice kiosk interface is shifting from simple scripted commands to processing complex and more natural conversational interactions which provides greater efficiency. 2. It reduces time and other costs, with greater accuracy (i.e. real-time order tracking, contactless interactions in drive-throughs) 3. Voice assistants allows for reduced labor costs and allows more skilled staff to focus solely on food preparation and elevated service. 4. This one was a surprise for me! AI can assess the customer’s voice to analyze their age and mood and recommend products and upselling opportunities. 5. Improved order accuracy and suggestions for alternative menu items if something is not available. 6. Restaurants can track staffing and sales data to determine any trends or patterns during busy times. 7. Forecast inventory and demand reducing waste and unnecessary costs. 8. AI models can search and find fraudulent and inconsistent transactions. 9. AI clustering can help combine and analyze employee interactions and assist in scoring and improving performance. 10. AI distinguishes patterns in customer behaviors, helping owners determine which offers to continue or discontinue. In my summation, AI can be of great help and at the same time, human interaction, upleveled service, etc. cannot be replaced which is why you will see AI in mundane and monotonous activities in the restaurant arena.
