There is no better feeling than when a project I launch for the sheer enjoyment of creativity, plus passion for the subject matter, develops a life of its own and takes off! I started BooksByJohnnies.com back in 2019. ("Johnnies" means graduates of St. John's College, the quirky and wonderful little school in the mountains of northern New Mexico I went to for four years.) A lot of us are writers, but there was no central place for us to show off our work so we could see what other members of the alumni community were up to. Also, some of us didn't have much web exposure at all. My intention was to help other Johnny writers, especially those not already online, get more exposure for their work. The site was met with great appreciation by its intended users, and for the last few years it's been chugging along, doing its thing. Some months ago I was contacted by Carol Carpenter, vice-president of communications and strategy in Santa Fe, to begin discussions about making the site an official part of the College. Together with Sorakamol Annette Prapasiri at Creative Santa Fe (who is also a Johnny!), I have been working and planning the transition. Today I can announce that in the very near future, BBJ will exist in a whole new form, on a whole new server, but with the same principle behind it: giving Johnnies a place to share their work with the world. Awesome! #creativityunleashed #passionproject #launching

Hey everyone! Back after a mostly uneventful weekend (if you know, you know 😉 ) Managed to finish Chapter 13 and half of Chapter 14! When I started two weeks ago, my expected # of chapters was 16! I'd almost be FINISHED by now! But the number of chapters have increased since then, due to pacing and word count 😱 So now the end of the novel is currently sitting at 23 chapters 😡 It keeps trying to run away from me, but I'm GOING to finish this race before the end of the year, mark my words, literally! Friday check-in! What progress did you make this week on your dreams and goals? I'm spending my afternoon reviewing the proof for the second Volume in my new reflection journal collection... and I realized it's moments like these we need to celebrate!
