As a lighting designer, I’ve always believed that every space tells a unique story, and light is one of the most powerful narrators. While off-the-shelf fixtures might tick the boxes of functionality, there are moments when a project calls for something more—something truly bespoke. Custom luminaries are not just about aesthetics; they are about crafting a lighting solution that perfectly aligns with the character of the space and the vision of its designers. Whether it’s creating a statement piece for a boutique hotel, integrating subtle yet striking fixtures into a modern workspace, or designing functional art that enhances a community space, custom luminaries bring unparalleled value. In my journey as a lighting designer, creating custom luminaires has been a way to merge innovation with artistry. It’s a joy to see how these creations transform spaces and elevate experiences. #LightingDesign #CustomLuminaries #InnovationInDesign #PassionForLight

✨ Brighten your life! 💡 Choosing the right lighting isn't just about aesthetics, it impacts mood, productivity, and even your mindset. From cozy ambiance to focused task lighting, find the perfect balance to create a space that uplifts and energizes. 💡 Mood setting: Lighting isn't just about visibility; it's a mood-setter. Soft, warm glows evoke relaxation, ideal for bedrooms or cozy nooks. Bright, white lights inspire productivity, perfect for offices or kitchens. Whether creating intimacy or boosting focus, the right lighting transforms a room's ambiance, shaping experiences and emotions. 💡 Highlight your best features: Lighting acts as the silent curator of your space, accentuating design elements. Strategically placed lights draw attention to architectural features, artwork, or furniture, elevating the overall aesthetic. Whether it's a spotlight on a statement piece or subtle under-cabinet illumination, lighting adds depth and drama to your design vision. 💡 Perception is everything: Lighting is the magician of spatial perception. Well-placed lights can expand cramped quarters, creating an illusion of openness, while dim lighting can cozy up vast areas, creating intimacy. By playing with shadows and highlights, with the right lighting design you can target the perception of space, making rooms feel larger, cozier, or more dynamic. #HomeLighting #BrightIdea #InteriorDesign

I don’t usually get excited about “Hot or Not” design trend lists - a lot of times they feel entirely subjective. But this morning’s WSJ felt pretty spot on. What’s in: ▪️Furniture that weathers well - The outdoor room that is decorated like an indoor room (aka upholstered seating) has been here for a while… but what a pain to clean. ▪️Gravel - Pea gravel is an alternative to a lawn (not climate conscious) or an outdoor rug (again, hard to clean) ▪️Mixed mediums - Ditching cookie-cutter aesthetics by mixing materials ▪️Better takes on the fire pit - Fire pits have grown in popularity over the past few years. It makes sense we would get an upgraded version of them ▪️Glow - Ambient light versus the glare of a bulb (this one was all over KBIS) Each of these trends pretty closely align with what we are seeing in consumer data or industry events. Curious to hear if others agree or disagree. #jbrec #nhti #outdoorliving

💡 Friday Night Lights: Lighting Design Tips 💡 Did you know that the color temperature of your lighting can dramatically affect how your skin looks? ⚪️ Cold Light (6500K): Gives off a bright, crisp, almost blue-toned light, which isn't ideal for most skin tones... This temperature is more popular in Asia, where they feel it looks "cleaner", while here in the US, we tend to think of it as "institutional". ⚪️ White Light (4500K): This is still on the bluer side, but mixes well with daylight. It offers a balanced and neutral light, making it ideal for everyday use in commercial settings. ⚪️ Warm Light (3200K): Warm light creates a soft, golden glow that enhances warm tones in your skin. It’s perfect for cozy, intimate settings where you want to look radiant and relaxed. We use this warmer tone in most residential settings. ✨ Choosing the right lighting can not only impact how a space feels but also how YOU feel in the space! If you want help finding the perfect lighting for your home or office, let’s talk! ✨ #LightingDesign #ColorTemperature #InteriorDesignTips #WarmVsCool #LightingMatters #DesignWithLight #HeumannCreativeSolutions #FridayNightLights
