Join us in welcoming Gwylim Taylor to the Pod! 🤩 Joining our awesome Tech Team, here is what he had to say: “I wanted a lateral move from data science into software engineering and from the public sector into the private sector to broaden my experience. I really enjoyed meeting the team and felt like it'd be a good cultural fit for me! Everyone I've met has been nice, and they all seem super competent! I like how personable Tim and Hari are. I'm also enjoying free coffee in the office (not a perk the Civil Service gets I'm afraid). I want to develop my skills and understanding of how software is designed, built and maintained. In more concrete terms, I'd like to make significant contributions to the codebase, delivering new features to meet user needs.” 🙌 Gwyl’s favorite pizza is either margherita or mushroom depending on his mood, but ideally with a sauce-stuffed crust! 🍕 😋 #NewStarter #SoftwareEngineer #Tech

When product and data nerds collide... Only one place will do: La Farm Bakery. Right? Ally nailed it with the location and the company. Hanging with Ally was like kicking it with an old friend you haven't seen in a minute. Plenty to chat about, but y'all never missed a beat. And the only difference is that this was the first time we actually got to get together. From environmental policy to data-driven tech? Talk about a plot twist... But it's also cool as hell, and why not? Ally's got a great story, and she's sharp as hell. I can't wait to see what she works on next - I bet it'll be first-class. Thanks for the chat, Ally. You've set the bar high. Like that infamous white chocolate baguette sitting outside saved me from. #productmanagement #tech #datascience #community

What do the numbers in a postcode mean? 🤔 60 years ago, the #postcode was introduced. Just like Swiss Post, it’s celebrating its anniversary this year – except it’s turning 60, not 175 years old. 🎊 The four-digit number sequence was introduced in 1964, following the launch of a new letter sorting machine designed to help process increasing letter volumes and compensate for staff shortages. 💌📬 To ensure that the sorting machine worked properly, a numbering system was required, such that the letters could be sequenced automatically. And so the postcode was born. 📯 To this day, it still guarantees that consignments reach the right destination. 📍 In order for this system to work, each number has its own meaning. We’ll tell you more in our video! #YellowHistory175

award-winning strategist and author designing policies, narratives and movements so humans can just be
I wrote the below quickly this morning reflecting on this week—Juneteenth week—where I’ll be a panelist for DivInc “Freedom Code: Advancing Liberty Through Technology,” with host and dear friend Preston L. James, II and CEO of Indeed Chris Hyams: “Beyond the “1, 1, 0, 0, 1” of it all, we are the Code. Each 1 has the power to push back. Each 1 has the power to elevate. 1 Coder + 1 Coder equals connection. And the more coded 1s that come together equals a movement. We cannot afford to lose our momentum by those who multiply with 0 care about equity and equality. Even if they, at times, succeed at aborting progress. Which is a shame? Right? Investing in tearing down instead of building up. We shouldn’t have to keep re-coding. But even when we start at the beginning, that is not the same as starting from “0”. For we are the Code. Been the Code. And we will unlock this. 1 by 1.” Can’t wait for this discussion. If you’ll be in Austin, consider coming thru! https://lu.ma/nxrgt87c
