6 Lessons I've Learned in June! June has always been my favorite time of the year, Of course, it's my birthday month! But it's also one of the coldest months in my country. Being my favorite month doesn't mean that it's always rosy, It's usually like a rollercoaster of events, With high and low moments. Here are the five lessons I've learned in June: 1️⃣ Never wait for the perfect moment to start doing something - it may never come. 2️⃣ You're your best cheerleader - if you don't have confidence in yourself, no one else will. 3️⃣ Always be kind - you may never know what the other person is going through. Plus, it will cost you nothing. 4️⃣ Always offer value I whatever you do - it will come back to you in multiples. 5️⃣ Avoid comparing yourself with others - instead, work on being a better version of yourself every day. 6️⃣ Tomorrow is not a guarantee - live every day like it's your last. In this post, I aim to express gratitude for the sacrifices I've undertaken, viewing them as catalysts for motivation, determination, and a steadfast belief in my future. Research by David DeSteno, professor of psychology at Northeastern University and the author of Emotional Success underscores the significance of future-oriented thinking, wherein prioritizing long-term gains over immediate gratification correlates with heightened financial, occupational, and health achievements. Essentially, a readiness to make sacrifices in the present—be it through diligent work, persistent practice, or enduring challenges—serves as the driving force behind productivity, innovation, and consequently personal success and satisfaction. Upon contemplation of the personal sacrifices I've made, particularly in allocating time to my pursuits, I discerned significant advancements in my educational journey, symbolizing progress akin to taking two steps forward. It is a conviction that, I believe, few can swiftly materialize their aspirations. Nonetheless, I nurtured a belief in my capabilities and surrounded myself with supportive individuals who bolstered me throughout my odyssey. In light of this, I extend my most sincere appreciation to my immediate family—my cherished husband, parents, and supportive coworkers—who have stood by me in their belief in my potential and steadfast in their encouragement. To each of you, I offer my deepest gratitude.

The journey starts anew. How will you cultivate gratitude, positivity, and resilience in your classroom this school year? One action I take in my virtual classroom is that I have students look for tools or items that help them complete a task (like a light switch in their workspace). I encourage them to appreciate (even verbally thank) the light switch for working properly so they can complete their work. It might seem silly, but that action triggers your brain to find more value in that item. The more we normalize gratitude for ordinary items, the more we see the richness that we have in our daily lives. Please share your plans for increasing gratitude below!

I am always Saving my Ears For Them! Persons 7 - My Mentors/ My Egbons Day 27 of sharing 40 Ps that shape me as I countdown to my 40th Birthday! 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗟𝗗 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪. You can't be good at anything you wish to know if you don't keep doing it. Funnily enough, it happens like magic- you can become an expert only if you keep practicing. Even if it is an inherent gift, you can always get better when you keep doing it. I get it that you might get discouraged when people point out your mistakes. My dear, accept it with joy. Trust me, if you work on that mistake, you'll never repeat it. Don't be proud or shy to seek advice from people who know better. Don't lie to yourself about knowing what you're finding difficult. Instead of burying yourself in it and still not getting a solution, speak up to others. When you don't talk, no one will know how to help you. In essence, what I'm saying is that you should continue doing what you're doing. There's always an opportunity to get better. Don't let your mistakes discourage you, they are lessons for you to learn from. I don't know if this makes any sense at all, but I hope it does. HAPPY NEW WEEK.😊 © Keren

Log Eight I am learning that what I have will always be more than what I do not have. I am often consumed by what is lacking, what is missing, what is unfulfilled, and what is unsatisfied. I am usually obsessed and occupied with making up for the imperfect and the insufficient. I am however learning that the things that are working for me are far more than the things that are not. I usually engage in this exercise, where I list out on one side of note, all the things that I have and that are working for me. That list is usually very long and can keep extending the more I think and reflect. Then on the other side, I would list out the things that I need but do not have and that are bothering me. Most times, after the fifth item, I find it difficult to continue. What we have will always be greater by far than what we do not.  What principles of gratitude have you successfully applied in your own experience?

Who loves homework? Probably not many people. I can think of a lot of things better than the daunting task of homework. Ice cream. The beach. Puppies. All great things... But this is the BEST homework I have received in awhile. Matthew Dicks talk about the importance of finding a story everyday. He invites everyone to spend 5 minutes every night thinking of and writing about a moment that seemed story-like. I love this idea way more than the blandness found in keeping a gratitude journal. I appreciate my days more. I am able to be more positive. And I am more meaningful in my actions, thoughts, and words because I am living for a story. And everyday I find there is one, whether big or small, boring or exciting. Everyday is a gift. Find the story.

As we gear up for our 25th reunion, a wave of gratitude washes over me for the incredible teachers who guided us through those formative years. Their impact goes far beyond textbooks and tests. They instilled in us a love of learning that continues to this day, encouraging us to: Embrace the Journey: They ignited our curiosity, urging us to explore new ideas and delve deeper into the world around us.
