Career fairs are an essential platform that connects the academic world with the professional sphere. For undergraduates, these events provide invaluable opportunities to network with industry leaders, explore potential career paths, and gain a deeper understanding of employer expectations. More than just job searching, it’s a chance to secure internships and develop skills that can lead to long-term success. For companies, participating in career fairs is a powerful way to engage with emerging talent, build a pipeline for future recruitment, and foster relationships with motivated, high-potential students. It also allows companies to contribute to students’ professional development while reinforcing their brand presence within the academic community. We are thrilled to announce that Horizon Campus Annual Career Fair 2024 will take place on 30th October, bringing together our bright undergraduates and top employers. We sincerely thank the companies that have already confirmed their participation. If you haven’t yet registered but would like to be part of this exciting event, there’s still time! Contact us at nalika@horizoncampus.edu.lk to learn how you can participate and help shape the future workforce. Let’s work together to inspire and empower the next generation of professionals! #CareerFair2024 #HorizonCampus #FutureLeaders #InternshipOpportunities #TalentAcquisition #ShapingTheFuture #UniversityIndustryPartnership #CareerDevelopment #CorporateEngagement #CareerCraft

Choosing almost from 330 different occupations in Germany ..., Stefan Wolter did you also analyse regional effects? Not all 200 different occupations are offered in one place. My assumption is also that local companies and their offers for apprenticeships are having a major effect on individual decisions. Or did you discover a growing mobility among apprenticeships seakers as well? Thank you for this study!
"The virtues of going virtual": When young people have to choose from almost 200 different #occupations, there is a great risk that they will limit and shorten their search radius and that this will result in an inefficient match of skills, preferences and professional requirements. To prevent such inefficiencies, #career fairs are therefore held in many countries, where young people can come into contact with the occupations and get a hands-on picture. Together with Daniel Goller and Chiara Graf from the University of #Bern, we have now been able to investigate the quantitative effects of such career fairs for #Switzerland for the first time. The results show that a) such career fairs are able to significantly increase the search intensity for open apprenticeship positions, b) the new #virtual #fairs perform better than the traditional face-to-face fairs and c) that the virtual fairs, in contrast to the in-person fairs, increase the search radius for different occupations, while the latter, contrary to the intentions of the career fairs, seem to narrow it. Since virtual career fairs are not only cheaper, but can also be multiplied more easily and offered without geographical restrictions, there is an opportunity here to make the career search process for young people even more effective and efficient. Careers Fairs are for SMEs too! Careers Fairs are a fantastic opportunity for start-ups and SMEs to engage with our students. Many University of Cambridge Students and Reseachers value the unique opportunity SMEs offer and are eager to work in smaller, more agile environments. Feedback we have received from previous fairs indicates that our students want to explore opportunities with a broad range of employers including SMEs. Some examples of student feedback below: “There was a diverse range of companies which helped me to get a better idea of the types of companies with roles in my field, both large and small. A lot of the companies I had never heard of, but they seemed great!” “There was a really good selection of employers! I think the mix of start ups and bigger companies was really good!” “This was amazing… A wide range of employers including start-ups.” Our careers fairs taking place this October still have some remaining places available and SME’s with a turnover of £10m or less receive a 50% discount. As a university recruiter for the Idaho National Laboratory (INL), Eddie Celis, M.S. visits campuses across the country to seek out the perfect fit for Idaho National Laboratory internships. The University of Idaho Career Fair is fertile ground for Celis and hundreds of other company representatives in search of both interns and full-time employees. The U of I Fall Career Fair drew a record 230 employers – the first time the event has drawn more than 200. The spring edition takes place Feb. 7 at the P1FCU Kibbie Dome, where more than 150 employers will visit with students from across the academic spectrum. Celis ’19, ’22, returns to familiar territory next week. As an undergraduate student he worked for the Office of Career Services. Now he helps identify students who can contribute to INL’s mission. “We’re looking for skills and qualifications, but most of the U of I students have those,” Celis said. “The other half we’re looking for is the passion behind their work. We want students to understand the big picture of the work we do here at INL. Our researchers and scientists are trying to change the world and when students have that same passion, that’s when it really clicks.” The University of Idaho Career Services staff works to bring in a wide variety of employers and prepares students by reviewing resumes and advising students on how to make a good impression on employers. Students can research companies represented at the Career Fair on Handshake – the U of I’s online career platform. In addition to the Career Fair, each college holds a Networking Night, where students can visit with employers in a casual setting and faculty can connect with companies to learn more about what they’re looking for in graduates. What percentage of employers say U of I Students make a positive impression on them? Find out in the latest edition of the president's Friday letter. https://lnkd.in/g-P9UiCN #careerpreparation #college #recruiting

Nust career fair bridges education-employment gap: With the aim of bridging the gap between education and employment, the Namibia University of Science and Technology Annual Career Fair showcases a diverse lineup of local and international companies across various industries. The career fair is taking place on 17 and 18 April, and will showcase companies and organisations such as Dundee Precious Metals, Namibia Investment and Promotional Development Board, and First National Bank Namibia, among others, while also including various faculties from the university. Multimedia practitioner at Nust, Nadia Meding says that the career fair is a transformative opportunity for the youth to ignite their passion and shape their future paths. “In today’s fast-paced world, success is more than just about grades, it’s about connections, insights and seizing the right opportunities,” Meding said. According to Meding, the career fair provides a platform for learners to engage with industry experts to explore diverse career paths. The fair also allows learners an opportunity to gain valuable insight into the changing job market. She says that exposing learners to various career paths allows the youth to make informed decisions about their careers. Graduate metallurgist at Dundee Precious Metals, Candice Salkunga, says that one of the values of Dundee is to empower communities and the youth. “Such events are all about exposure. The more you expose them (young people) to different things, the easier it gets for them to pick out what they want to do for the rest of their lives,” Salkunga said. She added that engagement of companies with young people allows them to interact with industry experts and learn more about the fields. Speaking on the same platform, National Youth Services corporate affairs and marketing manager, Belinda Hamburee, said that their presence at the Namibian University of Science and Technology Annual Career Fair is to help equip the youth for their future. “The reason why we are here is because we are sharing information with the youth to prepare them for their future,” Hamburee said. According to Hamburee, the NYS application for the 15th intake is open and used the platform provided by the career fair to engage students on the opportunities available.
