This Matariki, let's take a moment to reflect and learn from our elders. We are guided by Ma Mua Kaa Hua - a whakatauākī penned by Kapi Peita and Teariki Tuiono, which means our past inspires our future. It guided last year's Pūtaiao Symposium and continues to inspire us to pause and reflect on the past. It helps us draw inspiration from those who have gone before us and helps us seek new pathways for the future. Want to do a TEDx that lands? I did my first Tedx in 2017 (dressed as a banana - no you dont all have to be a fruit to do get a Tedx promise!!) - this and my second one that I did in 2022 have helped me in so many ways. This is how I got to do them. HAVE A GOOD IDEA - I know seems very obvious as Ted is all about ideas worth spreading, however for a few years it struck me that Tedx talks were an excuse for business people to do a TEDx - it started to become a tick box exercise as opposed to the true heart of TED. That has changed now I think which is brilliant (they are now seeking far more local speakers to events and are far more aware of business folk using it as PR) Both of mine #Be More Banana and Laugh Think and Play have been true ideas of how I want to change the world... As you have a really good idea do not over think your application form. If you are in the UK go on the TEDx website and you will find the events that are looking for speakers - apply and dont over think - your idea is what matters not a perfect PR form. When applying make sure your idea fits into the theme of that TEDx event - the people that run TEDx events work super hard and when they create a theme they are thought through and ensure your one does fit - when I did my second one I only applied to Woking as their theme worked so well with my idea. When you get the TEDx rehearse it and then enjoy it... They are brilliant to do and the people you meet are fab! Here is my first one in case you have not seen it! https://lnkd.in/gczVCMU

Indeed, an interactive evening spent on understanding #ArtificialIntelligence & its interactions with Business & Cognitive Intelligence. Some wonderful examples of chutney & dogs (!!) to understand #AI with humour! My 2 key learnings: 1. Instead of hire-to-retire #employeeexperience, let's look at it as candidate-to-alumni experience (incl. suppliers' ecosystem) to see where AI can support BI & CI. 2. AI as a super-highway: either be afraid or let it empower you. Interesting use cases of a) AI helping HR/managers to understand overall skill sets of employees (even those developed on own time) to help with IJP & retention; b) identifying moments that AI can transform to #automated nudges in #personalized manner. Another highlight was accidentally sitting next to Dr. TV Rao, saying hello out of habit, slow realization who I just said hello to & then forgetting how to speak! Thankfully, I don't need AI to tell me how to avoid regrets next time!! 😁 NHRD Bangalore Chapter

The Atlas of Variant Effects Alliance is an international collaborative effort with a mission to propel systematic measurements of variant impact on functional elements of human and pathogen genomes, towards diagnosing and treating human disease and understanding genes, gene products and their regulation. Their vision is to create comprehensive variant effect maps for important regions of human and human pathogen #genomes that could ultimately assist in the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of disease by bringing together data generators, curators and consumers, along with funders and other stakeholders, to set standards, share tools and develop strategy. https://lnkd.in/eRG3kvBS
