📢 Important Updates on Water Billing System! 📢 In January 2023, the Calvert County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) directed the Department of Public Works, Water & Sewerage Division (WSD) to enhance billing for customers, transitioning to a tiered billing system based on usage tiers. The WSD conducted a survey resulting in most customers opting for the tiered system. Below are important updates on this initiative: 📅 May 7: Join WSD's work session with BOCC to discuss recommendations for a new system. 📝 Submit questions/comments in advance to wsbilling@calvertcountymd.gov. 📅 May 16: Attend the fiscal year 2025 commissioners’ recommended operating and capital improvement budget public hearing to provide input on WSD's proposed tiered billing system. Happy National Stormwater Day!! On November 16, 1990, the Federal Register included notice of the promulgation of the NPDES Phase I Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) program making this a major day in the stormwater sector. Since this time, thousands of communities, along with qualifying institutions and other entities, have developed MS4 programs and implemented millions of stormwater control measures collectively to address urban runoff pollution. Over these 33 years, the approach to addressing stormwater has evolved as have the programs established to manage urban runoff. There is a webinar today (https://stormwater.day/) that will bring together stormwater professionals to reflect on the impacts of the MS4 program, consider the current level of awareness of stormwater infrastructure, discuss the status of the national MS4 program today and how this program may change in the future to meet the growing challenge of stormwater management. Texas water fund to improve state water supply I know you know what we did. Texans overwhelmingly voted to support the billion-dollar allocation for water and wastewater infrastructure made possible by @Txlege in 2023. It was the most important session for water in many, many years. Then again, I don’t know anyone who voted against this smart policy. Do you? FOR Prop 6 1,966,583. or 77.64% AGAINST Prop 6 566,257 or 22.36%

Having worked on Class EA’s for about 10 years, as an environmental planner, and understanding infrastructure, I found this article to be a bit humorous. The pipe likely burst due to a combination of age and lack of money. Like many municipalities, staff reported the aging infrastructure to Council, which deferred a decision to save money. Or something like that. The humorous part is that Council knows this, or should and collectively have pushed this off for many years. Then the pipe burst and now requires emergency repairs. The money is available for emergencies, yet not for needed repairs… I would love to read your thoughts on this, below. https://lnkd.in/g7BTGSqg
