Lawyer + Academic + Writer (Specialism in Academic Freedom, Free Speech on Campus and Discrimination)
A real pleasure to work on this! Read our thoughts on the proposed OfS free speech guidance. The guidance is very robust and very demanding in terms of implementation and ongoing compliance requirements, especially training and policy reviews. Overall, there is a lot for Universities to do to prepare (and work for the OfS to do, we think). If you would like a free 15 minute chat about compliance (when I’m back from honeymoon next week :-) ), DM me or email me at jmurray@doyleclayton.co.uk #freespeech #academicfreedom
A response co-authored with James Murray and Julius Grower to the OfS's consultation on its draft regulatory guidance related to freedom of speech.

Beautifully created clip from The Cipher Brief explaining what ‘disinformation’ truly is and, more importantly, the steps we can all take to protect ourselves and our democracy from it. Much like the word, ‘nonpartisan,’ ‘disinformation’ has been weaponized by opposing political parties to effectuate a political end-goal on either side of the field in the U.S., which makes it extremely easy for our adversaries to exploit, and makes it difficult for folks to understand what disinformation actually is. The following short clip cleans it up nicely and provides multiple solutions.
AN ANIMATED LOOK AT HOW WE CAN PROTECT DEMOCRACY FROM DISINFORMATION OPINION -- The Cipher Brief wanted to be a part of the fight to protect our democracy from disinformation, so we produced a public service video to outline the dangers of disinformation to U.S. society. Get a behind-the-scenes look at our editorial approach to making the video. Check out the behind-the-scenes here: https://lnkd.in/eKsDk-Rs
