DEVELOPING POLICIES, 4th JUNE, 10-11:30, ONLINE Let’s face it, most of us probably don’t want to spend too much time thinking about policies. They’re something we know we need to have in place but don’t want to spend too much time on. However, if you’re someone who does need to think about policies – maybe your job involves reviewing policies or drafting new ones – then you need to know more and so this brief session is for you. We’ll look at: · What are policies and why do we need them? · How do we go about writing and developing policies? · Which policies do we need to have in place? All sessions will be delivered by Sue Tucker, Operations and Development Manager, Stronger Kent Communities. Sue has worked in the voluntary sector for over 30 years. She joined the then CVS for the Canterbury district in 2008 and since then has specialised in providing support to the sector through both volunteer centre and organisational development services. https://ow.ly/xUon50RQAOH

Understanding the feasibility of a new shared-use path can require extensive stakeholder engagement. Ansons Consulting Ltd, in partnership with LUC, were commissioned by Strathfillan Community Development Trust to undertake a comprehensive feasibility study for a shared-use path between Killin and Kirkton Farm, near Tyndrum. The project was funded by Sustrans Scotland. The goal of the study was to identify the most feasible route for a path that could be used by people wishing to walk, wheel and cycle between Killin and Kirkton. Ansons role was to support LUC — who carried out the route appraisal, an initial ecological appraisal and a costed delivery plan — by designing and implementing a comprehensive programme of stakeholder engagement. Our work to understand diverse perspectives will help ensure that the feasibility study accurately reflects the views of the community, increasing the likelihood of positive outcomes for path users and other stakeholders alike. What does your byline mean to you?
Do you have a snappy little byline beside your name on LinkedIn? What does it mean in reality? For me, ‘connecting communities and environment’ has meant: Supporting Greater Wellington and Otago regional councils to give farmers and rural professionals clear guidance on where to next with farm planning. Looking for opportunities to make it easy for Auckland rural communities to achieve environmental outcomes alongside community resilience. Enabling those working with catchment groups to help them get clarity on where to start. Shining a light on cross-sector insights for community engagement approaches with NZ Forest Owners Association. Thank you to our wonderful Element Environmental clients for giving us the opportunity to find so many meaningful ways to connect community and environment and to our very own Amelia Wood and Harriet Kemp! Thank you especially to Libby Caldwell, Dave Boone, Leanna Birch, Maddison Jones Hannah Blake, and the New Zealand Foresty Owners Association.
