Cotswolds Tourism continues to run the Help to Thrive programme aimed to help local visitor economy businesses develop new experiences and reach new audiences. The initiative is supported by Cotswold District Council through the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The next in person workshop is being held on 15 January 2025 at Farm Ed – how to green your business: a guide to sustainable tourism. Insights from Destination Campaigns and Partnerships During my work with the Livingstone Tourism Association, we employed a mix of strategic alliances, active participation in trade shows and exhibitions, and the use of digital platforms to boost engagement and stimulate interest in our member companies and Livingstone city as a top tourist destination. Here are some insights I've gathered from the experience that have contributed to driving success. 1. It's vital that the values of the partner organisation align with the work of your own organisation. Sharing a common and clear direction is a key step toward achieving success. 2. Initiate communication with contacts or organisations you meet and develop these interactions to foster trust. 3. Be prepared to learn new ways of doing things. You will be amazed at the results! 4. Avoid setting unrealistic goals. At the inaugural South Yorkshire LVEP Advisory Group meeting today at Wentworth Woodhouse, VisitEngland Deputy Director Lyndsey Turner Swift shared key information about the LVEP programme, and the opportunities and priority objectives for growth of the tourism sector. Tourism contributes £1.3 billion to the region, and through the strategic leadership of VisitEngland and collaboration of LVEPs across England, we work to build a thriving, resilient tourism economy, locally and nationally to deliver the Government’s national target of 50 million inbound visitors by 2030.

VisitEngland Advisory Board Chairman Victoria Borwick took a walking tour of Leeds to explore key tourism products essential to driving growth in the local economy, and met with key stakeholders and members of the West Yorkshire Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP), to gain further insight into the LVEP and their priorities for building a stronger and more resilient visitor economy. Tourism is positively impacting the region, contributing £5.77 billion to the local economy of West Yorkshire alone as well as supporting over 52,000 full time jobs.     The West Yorkshire LVEP is part of a wider network of LVEPs spread across England, under the leadership of VisitEngland. The LVEPs along with the foundation of the two pilot Destination Development Partnerships (DDPs), set regional priorities for the visitor economy and receive government funding to focus on key objectives. The DDP pilots are being run in the North East of England and the West Midlands. The DDP framework is focused on building a stronger, more resilient tourism industry, which nationally supports 2.6 million jobs in England and contributes £106 billion to the economy.
