As a father, I’m amazed at the life lessons I learn from observing my kids. This week I was able to take my 5-year-old, Piper, to her tumbling class. Here were a few of my observations: • During warm-ups she consistently stayed in front of the class, dialed in and treating everything as a “race”. • When learning a new technique, she was ALWAYS the first to raise her hand volunteering to try. What makes this even more inspiring to me, is this was only her 3rd week in the class since being moved up from a lower level. Not only was she leading, but among peers older and more experienced than she is. What did I learned watching my daughter Piper? 1 - You lead by example. Regardless of current title, tenure, or experience, leadership is reflective of actions. 2 - Be courageous and don’t let fears of failure or less experience prevent you from “raising your hand”. 3 - Life is about progression over perfection, and the only way you progress is by allowing yourself to experience the uncomfortable amidst imperfection. #SalesExcellence #CreateGrowth

Intentions are everything. I had the pleasure of speaking to a couple classes for Baylor S3E (sports business careers) a couple weeks ago. Right after, I went on vacation and today was my first day back in office. I Walked in to a STACK of letters from students of that class! 💌🥰 What these students don’t know is that I’ve been living in a prayerful season for the past 18+ months around my Purpose and how that intertwines with my career. These letters are not only a warm hug on a Monday morning, but also total validation. Many written to call out very specific things Ive been praying about - even specific phrasing I’ve only used in my conversations with God!🤯 Also worth noting, God knows I am a bit THICK HEADED at times (I know my truth and working on it 🤦🏻♀️😜), so this is one of literally 8 OBVIOUS MOMENTS of validation in just the last two weeks!! So, for what it’s worth, paying forward some personal lessons I’ve learned from this season: 1. Prayer is a two-way conversation for building a relationship with God. It’s not a one-way line to ask Him for things. 2. Relationships require time, consistent presence and patience to equip and flourish, same with prayer. 3. Titles/roles DO NOT MATTER when forming an authentic connection with someone. 4. If all you do is show up with the mindset to give (I.e. Attention, time or to serve whatever is the core need of the other person), then you very well could be the only moment in a day that person feels truly heard. THAT alone is lasting impact. 5. Surround yourself with a DIVERSIFIED group of people you Trust. If you want to change or grow in something, seek a community from those who excel at “it” - not from those swimming in the same pond you’re currently in. Shout out to Kirk Wakefield, Lane Wakefield, Heather Grover and the other leaders within S3 for everything you all do for the students, friends, partners, etc 🙏🏼❤️ #perspective #purpose #leadership #ICM #impostersyndrome #faithoverfear

The Challenges of Summer Learning Loss Summer vacation is often seen as a time for students to relax and recharge away from the rigors of the school year. However, this break can also lead to a phenomenon known as the “summer slide,” where students lose academic skills and knowledge acquired during the year. In today's video, we'll discuss strategies that mitigate summer learning loss. #EducationalLeader, Kim “When students are led well, they learn well.” The views shared in the Educational Leadership Moment are solely mine and do not reflect the positions of my employer or any entity within the local, state, or federal government sectors. #Education #Leadership

The path from where we are to who we aspire to be is never a direct path. If it is, we are likely ignoring opportunities for growth and learning along the way. Instead, there will be ups and downs. Twists and turns. Some things we need to do over because we didn't learn the lesson the first time. Other places we will linger because there's more to mine in the experience. We should not just celebrate getting to the top of whatever mountain we are trying to climb. Celebrate every milestone and learning opportunity. Every time we fell down and got back up. They are all wins and all part of the journey. What are some ways you celebrate the bumps on the road to change?
