I recently completed 7 years as an in-house counsel! When I started this journey, I did not plan to pursue it for this long. My creative side always aspired to follow a different profession. However, over these years, the ever-challenging and evolving role of an in-house counsel has given me numerous opportunities to utilize my creativity by constantly devising “creative solutions.” For those considering this role, here are a few insights from my experience: 1) Be patient - You don’t need to know everything from day one. 2) "How" you present your advice matters 3) Build a trusted network within the community 4) Continue to learn and improve - aim to make a difference and ease the lives of those who rely on you
