We've got a scoop to share: At Southern Ice Cream, we've implemented the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) to take our business to the next level. This system has helped us streamline operations and better empower our employees. Hear it from our VP, Robert Barton 👇 “EOS is more about growth and is really the tool we use to plan where we are going and how we’re going to get there. The employees are empowered to help create new process and improve existing ones by attending weekly level 10 meetings where we discuss any issues and get feedback from the group on how we should move forward in the best interest of the company. I think allowing them to create and help improve the processes and procedures makes it their idea and thus giving them more ownership and willingness to make it work”. #SouthernIceCream #EntrepreneurialOperatingSystem #StreamliningBusiness #EmployeeEmpowerment

SpringGR wrapped a 12-week pilot CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) course with ten local CPG entrepreneurs led by industry expert Austin Groesser. The course deeply delved into industry tools, hard-won lessons, and information (CPG-specific P&Ls, inventory planning, food operations, trade terminology, brokers, product-iterating, and much more). These critical details are difficult to find or unavailable aside from the school of hard knocks or expensive consulting. We are grateful to have the opportunity to run this pilot with these dedicated entrepreneurs. Our expectation is that this is just the beginning. More to come.

I get asked this question a lot: “How did you guys come up with the idea for Crafty?” The funny thing is, we almost went a different path. Originally, we imagined Crafty as a B2C craft beer in a box company… In hindsight, it was an absolutely terrible idea based on a subscription box fad. And even worse, the idea committed a cardinal sin: it was not based on solving a very painful problem for a specific customer. Lucky for us, before we launched our business, we stumbled upon customer pain that desperately needed a novel solution. At the time, I was a consultant for McKinsey & Company. Knowing we were planning to start Crafty, the Chicago Office Manager asked if he could buy beer from us for the office’s recurring Friday happy hours. He hated buying beer from his current vendor and was desperate for an alternative. It turned out that his frustration went beyond beer. He was extremely frustrated with his workplace F&B vendors. His frustration was palpable when he vented about how slow and archaic they were and how deeply he desired a better way. We found the pain. That discovery sent Crafty down a pathway to revolutionize the workplace F&B industry with proprietary technology that powers a premium experience for our clients. We simplify the complexity and give our clients tools to solve their problems (e.g., budget management, inventory management, onsite operations, and more). Whenever I talk to budding entrepreneurs, I urge them to focus on finding a really painful problem before they do anything else. You’ve got to start with customer pain. #Entrepreneurship #Innovation #WorkplaceSolutions #StartupJourney #Cheers
