So, what's YOUR workplace doing to hold space for periods? 👀 This is your friendly reminder that Period Health Day is in 7 days and counting. And no, we don't want to see performative posts about it. Less of the talk, more of the walk. We've had enough of periods being overlooked as a health and wellbeing consideration at work. It's time to show support for menstruating employees and foster an inclusive environment, all year round. Let's stomp the stigma that still surrounds periods today. With our period equality initiative we can do just that, together. Don't take it from us, here's what Emma at Wates Group is saying about having accessible period products on site👇 Reach out for more info on how we can make it happen for your workplace: b2b@heygirls.co.uk #PeriodHealthDay #MenstrualHygieneDay #PeriodsAtWork #PeriodFriendlyWorld

Busy day on the cards today, but a crucial part of that will be the hour that the entire team will be taking out of their day to take part in a session around dealing with stress, organised by our brilliant Diversity Inclusion and Belonging Committee. It's all well and good having policies about things like stress and equality in place, but they are next to useless if they aren't put into practice. Events such as this aren't just fluffy extras: they are powerful, help create empathy and, brass tacks, reduce the likelihood of particularly emotive employment issues erupting. I love the months we run these sessions because I always learn something. Past sessions have covered issues such as menopause and dealing with the loss of a baby. Having colleagues (with nerves of steel) willing to speak openly about what it is like to go through these things - especially at work - just puts everything we do as employment solicitors into full perspective. We can see the impact these events have at Howarths so take heed employers: the labour market in 2023 expects businesses to take such matters seriously which means actions and not just words contained in a policy which is collecting dust. The positive impact these events can have on staff is also huge - practice what you preach and you will retain your best talent, have a more efficient workforce and that will bleed into your bottom line. Really pleased I'm with a PT at the moment because we've all had to bring in comfort food, so I'll be neck deep in sausage rolls and scotch eggs if anyone needs me. #TeamHowarths

Every time I see this stat, I'm shocked: "Research has shown that 10% of women leave their jobs, and many more reduce hours or pass up promotions due to menopausal symptoms." (NHS England) How do we create a workplace that truly supports women during menopause? This online session from WOD - Women in Office Design looks like a great place to start.
WOD Global Event!! Join us on Friday, September 13th for an ONLINE learning session for all our members around the world. Published authors Kate Usher - Speaker/Trainer/Coach/Consultant Usher (Menopause in Business Coach) and Neil Usher (VP, Places at Sage) talk about how designers can create a supportive environment that accommodates the unique needs of menopausal employees, promoting well-being and inclusivity in the workplace. They show how organisations can adopt thoughtful workplace policies in order to retain valuable talent during this life stage. This event also marks the book launch of Neil & Kate’s NEW book: A couple’s guide to Menopause - navigating the change together. More organizations are offering EAPs than ever before, yet a majority of workers feel their employer isn't doing enough to support workforce mental health. Why the disconnect and how to address it? We'll discuss with our partners at ComPsych. #mentalhealthintheworkplace #eap #workforcewellbeing #mindbodywallet #championsofwellbeing
