𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 If there's one thing I've learned from my passion for sailing, it's that the skills acquired on the open water can be incredibly valuable in the world of leadership and team management. Sailing, much like leading a team in a professional setting, requires coordination, communication, and a clear sense of direction. 1. 𝘚𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘬 When you're at sea, it's crucial to chart a course and stick to it. It can be ambitious, but it NEEDS to be achievable. As a #leader, it's your responsibility to set a clear vision and direction for your team. Just like a sailor must adjust their sails to stay on course, you must adapt your strategies to navigate the challenges that arise. 2. 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘒𝘦𝘺 Sailing is a team sport, and effective communication is essential. The reason is that communication needs to be effective and people need to know exactly what you are talking about, either in a boat or in a corporate environment. In your workplace, ensure that your team members understand their responsibilities and encourage open lines of communication. 3. 𝘌𝘮𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘈𝘥𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 Sailing can be unpredictable, with changing weather conditions and unexpected obstacles. You need to be prepared to adapt your goals and remember that you set them up considering a set of variables than can have changed, like the weather for instance. As such, don’t be afraid to change your objectives because your environment has shifted. Embrace adversity as an opportunity for growth and innovation within your team. 4. Trust Your Crew On a boat, you trust your crew members with your safety, just as in business, you trust your team with the success of your projects. Building trust is crucial in both scenarios. 5. 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘺 𝘊𝘢𝘭𝘮 𝘜𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 Sailing in adverse conditions can be nerve-wracking, but remaining calm is essential. In leadership, your team will look to you for guidance during high-stress situations. Sailing in adverse conditions can be nerve-wracking, but remaining calm is essential. In leadership, your team will look to you for guidance during high-stress situations. We need to keep in mind skills acquired through #sailing, such as setting a course, effective communication, #adaptability, trust-building, and staying composed under pressure, are invaluable for successful leadership and team management. Whether you're sailing the high seas or leading a team in the corporate world, remember that the journey is as important as the destination. #leadership #rmagreatpeople RMA Special Vehicles

When I became a sailor a couple of years ago, I started somehow look for a connection between what I do and what I adore. So I almost thoroughly learned all the production process technology of monohulls (standard monohull Lazer type). This was easy since it was same thermoforming that I had been familiar with for many years working in the automotive industry. Of course, last century hulls (either monohulls or cruise ones) have remained far behind the carbon light-weight boats of nowadays that have rather moved into the category of a rocket science. But classic always be a classic. Nevertheless, not so long ago while visiting one of our suppliers, we were discussing some tooling know-how, and suddenly I realised that we are talking about Persico, which is the famous supplier for the American Cup’s foil arms and also its legendary Luna Rossa boat builder. But the story is not about how amazing it is when work intertwines with adoration. Here it’s about the America's Cup, which takes place in the Red Sea, on the coast of Saudi Arabia this November. By the way, the boats in this region have been around for a centuries. It is a very old gulf tradition of "Dhow" (داو). The word "Dhow" comes from the Swahili tongue (East African area). It means a “wooden boat” with latin righing, sailing along the coastline under the monsoon winds. Historians also share that “dhows” were invented by either the Arabs or the Indians, and were originally fishing, pearling, or trading vessels, also used to transport slaves and some goods in the Indian Ocean, the Red Sea and the Gulf. Today you can also hear about “Dhow racing”, which sheds light on the ancient maritime history of the region. This is one of the most enchanting performances that combines history and modernity. Nevertheless, in this November, modernity will be represented there by the second Preliminary Regatta of American Cup.
The countdown is on for the second Preliminary Regatta of the 37th America’s Cup with the Red Sea city of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia getting ready to host the world’s finest foiling sailors from the 29th of November through to the 2nd of December 2023.
