STRENGTH AND HONOR - IYC LEADS THE WAY IN 2024! 💪 👏 As the new year begins, I want to take a moment to reflect on the milestones achieved in 2024, both personally and as part of the incredible team at IYC - The International Yacht Company. In a year that challenged the global yacht market, IYC stood resilient, continuing to set the standard in the industry. Despite a steep 23% decline in overall market transactions, IYC reported only a modest 6% drop compared to 2023—clear evidence of the strength of our network, strategy and commitment to our clients. On a personal note, 2024 was a milestone year for myself marking a 272% increase in performance compared to last year. This achievement is not just about numbers; it’s about the trust and confidence my clients—both new and returning—have placed in me. For that, I am deeply grateful 🙏 With 40 yachts sold, 60 new sales listings above 24m added and eight in-house deals secured, our results speak for themselves. Approximately 60% of these transactions came from our own listings, a testament to the trust owners and clients place in us. We also end the year on a high note, solidifying our position as the global leader in yacht charters. With 35 new charter listings added, our active fleet has grown to an unrivaled 160+ yachts, retaining our status as the #1 charter fleet worldwide. Additionally, we secured nearly 3,000 charter days, totaling over 790 weeks booked—a testament to the trust and loyalty of our clients. I also want to express my heartfelt thanks to my colleagues and the leadership at IYC for fostering an environment of innovation, collaboration and excellence. It’s a privilege to be part of a company that consistently ranks among the top three in annual yacht sales and remains at the forefront of our industry. With their extensive experience in aircraft leasing and operations, they’re poised to add significant value to Azorra's growth. I look forward to hearing more about their plans and how they’ll be "kickingAZ" in 2025! 2️⃣The C919 expands internationally - COMAC aims for European certification for the C919. This will be interesting to follow. 3️⃣M&A buzz: DAE acquires Nordic Aviation Capital - DAE's acquisition of Nordic Aviation Capital propels it to a top-five lessor. The first of several transactions this year (???). 4️⃣Aircastle posts Q1 results and expands its portfolio - Aircastle posted its quarterly earnings, showing continued momentum despite maintenance revenue challenges. 5️⃣Dublin Aviation Week = Networking Gold - There’s nothing like Dublin’s Aviation Week (ok ... there are a few things like it) for reconnecting and building relationships across the industry. Each month, we’ll feature one of our members, sharing insights about their role, their port, and their perspectives on marine pilotage. Our first featured member is Callum MacAdie from the beautiful port of Esperance. Callum shared with us what makes his job unique and offers a glimpse into what life looks like working with Southern Ports in Esperance. 🔹 Name: Callum MacAdie 🔹 Position: Marine Pilot 🔹 Port: Southern Ports - Esperance 🔹 Years in this position: 2 years 🔹 What inspired you to pursue a career in the maritime industry? I grew up on the water and often went to sea with my father when he was sailing as a Chief Officer (pictured). Even as a young boy, I was mesmerised by what my father and grandfather did. I fell in love with the ocean and couldn’t wait to leave school and join a ship. 🔹 What’s the best advice you’ve ever received, personally or professionally? A quote by Eckhart Tolle has always stuck with me: "If it is a mistake, at least you learn something, in which case it's no longer a mistake. If you remain stuck, you learn nothing." Don’t be afraid of making mistakes because every mistake is an opportunity to learn and grow. 🔹 What do you love most about the community at your port? The camaraderie and teamwork at the Port of Esperance are what I love most. Working at a regional port allows me to feel like I’m not only part of the Port Authority but also part of the local town and community. 🔹 What’s the most challenging aspect of working at your port? Esperance Port is an exposed port, subject to surge conditions that can make safe mooring and piloting quite challenging at times.
