Interesting facts from FERC's 2023 State of the Energy Market report: ⛽ Natural gas prices are down, while demand is at an all-time high. Prices in CA are almost 3x compared to other regions. 🔋 There were more battery capacity additions than solar in CAISO. ⚡ ERCOT/SPP electricity consumption grew 10-15% in the last 4 years compared to the prior 4 years, while most other regions declined 2-5%. 🔨 ERCOT and MISO lead the way in new transmission build, 3-12x times more transmission line miles compared to other regions. 🦆 The duck curve is starting to appear in regions outside of CAISO. ⏳ Number of requests in the interconnection queue are increasing, although growth has slowed down a bit compared to the last 2 years. ~1/3 of cumulative capacity in the queue is now storage (standalone + hybrid).
