While the first one set the scene, the second documentary, 7 years later, really expanded on how Skynet came to exist and how AI enabled it to grow and develop and eventually "take over" the world. The Terminator explains that after Skynet has a perfect operational record in flying Stealth Bombers, human decisions are removed from Strategic Defence. Skynet begins to learn at a geometric rate... It becomes self-aware at 2:14 a.m. eastern time August 29th... In the panic, they tried to pull the plug and so Skynet fights back... But lowkey we have quietly built up a portfolio of the best startups in AI, SaaS, and deeptech like Anduril Industries (leading defense contractor), Archive (marketing AI), Physical Intelligence (foundational model for physical world robots), Cognition AI (AI software engineer Devin), and we are actively backing more. Drones and autonomy are and will be ubiquitous. The future is here, but it’s just not yet evenly distributed.
