What a great day to re-think your password use! Are you only doing the bare minimum with your life and password lengths? Do you use a unique passphrase for every online account? Do you have a secure password manager tool to save passphrases? Do you have a secure means of sharing passphrases if necessary? How often are you checking if any old passwords have been breached and then updating them? Do you make talking about strong, unique passphrases part of family and friends conversation? Today on World Password Day, we’re kicking off a campaign to encourage Victorians to improve their passwords. There’s six simple steps you can take to strengthen your password: ◾ Use passphrases (four or more random words) ◾ Use a different password for each account ◾ Make your passwords harder to guess by avoiding predictable words ◾ Use a password manager ◾ Update your passwords when required ◾ Turn on multi-factor authentication Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more information about how to stay safe online. The difference between a weak password and a strong password can be measured in a matter of seconds or centuries. Don’t wait for tomorrow, make simple changes today.
