Is the United States Space Force necessary? Is U.S. Space Command essential? Do these entities have significance? 🌍By re-establishing U.S. Space Command, and creating the Space Force, the United States reaffirms our commitment to securing the ultimate high ground and protecting the freedom, security, and prosperity of our nation & allies. 🛰️ Dominating the New Frontier: Why Space is the Backbone of National Security and the Global Economy 🚀Space is no longer the realm of science fiction; it's the crucial enabler of our modern world, underpinning both national security and the global economy. Here's how: 1. Unbreakable Communication: Secure, reliable communication between military units, command centers, and allies across the globe is vital. Space-based systems ensure seamless connectivity, coordination, and interoperability, enhancing situational awareness and operational effectiveness. 2. Precision Navigation: Military operations rely heavily on GPS and satellite navigation for accurate targeting, navigation in challenging environments, and synchronized operations across cyberspace, land, sea, and air. Space-based solutions guarantee precision and efficiency. 3. All-Seeing Eye: Unparalleled intelligence gathering are critical for national security. Space-based assets equipped with advanced sensors and imaging technologies enable real-time threat monitoring, early missile warning, and intelligence gathering in remote areas. 4. Shield Against Threats: Early warning and missile defense systems play a crucial role in safeguarding against potential attacks. Space-based platforms with infrared sensors provide early warning of missile launches, enabling timely responses and defensive measures. 5. Weather Intelligence: From troop deployment to logistics, space-based weather satellites provide critical information for military planning and operations. They offer accurate forecasts, storm tracking, and environmental monitoring, making informed decision-making possible. 6. Global Reach, Strategic Deterrence: Demonstrating strength and resolve to potential adversaries is key to strategic deterrence. Space-based assets enhance global reach and power projection capabilities, enabling rapid response and force deployment across vast distances. 💡I use this post and #techtuesday to emphasize why we need a dedicated Space Force & warfighting Combatant Command focused on Space. In an era of competition, investing in space capabilities is crucial to compete effectively. To "get to the fight and win the fight," we must understand and train in the Space Domain. Joint leadership that embraces this new frontier is essential, or we risk fighting with one hand tied behind our back. Space Command isn’t optional—it’s the backbone of tomorrow’s security and growth. It’s a no brainer investment for leading the future. Great topic Scott!

If DoD wants to achieve the JADC2 initiatives it has outlined, Space Command is not only optional, it is a necessity to establish the necessary cybersecurity and network infrastructure to move past our current reliance on physical connectivity points.
