The application of #Agile and #DevSecOps to space systems In an era when we expect to see more growth in space in the next five years than in the last 50, adapting to changing needs and delivering faster while ensuring safety and security is crucial. At #TheDEVOPSConference in Copenhagen (November 5) and Stockholm (November 7), Robin Yeman (Space Domain Lead at Carnegie Mellon University) will share the transformative potential of applying Agile and DevOps methodologies to the development of large-scale, safety-critical cyber-physical systems in space exploration. As the demand for more ambitious missions, commercial space activities, and enhanced safety standards grows, the need for accelerated development and deployment processes becomes clear. 👋 Hello, Everyone! Solving the Split Brain Dilemma Understanding the Split Brain Problem: Imagine a team of synchronized swimmers, each playing their part in perfect harmony. Now picture a scenario where some swimmers lose sight of the choreography, causing a ripple effect of confusion. This phenomenon, where nodes in an orchestration environment become isolated and make conflicting decisions, is what we refer to as the split brain problem. Solving the Split Brain Problem in Orchestration Environments with Quorum: In container orchestration, the split brain problem can disrupt operations when nodes become isolated and make conflicting decisions. Quorum, our trusty solution, ensures harmony: Consensus at Scale: Quorum uses algorithms like Raft or Paxos to ensure collective decision-making. Majority Rules: Decisions are made only when a majority of nodes agree, preventing chaos. Dynamic Adaptation: Quorum adjusts to cluster size, maintaining stability as the environment scales. In the orchestration symphony, let's keep our nodes in tune with quorum! #DevOps #ContainerOrchestration #Quorum #SplitBrainProblem

🌟 New Speaker Update for Dev# Conference! 🌟 We are thrilled to welcome Bruno Reboul from Google as our next speaker! Join us as he dives into the intricate world of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) with his session: How to Scale SRE at Org Level Using YAML Structured Critical User Journeys and Implementing Error Budgets with Prometheus Recording Rules. The first challenge when implementing SRE is to have a strong business alignment and sponsorship so that innovation freeze periods become acceptable to them and SRE benefits effective. We will see how to structure Critical User Journey in a common User-Goal-task shape and in YAML format to enable implementation automation Don't miss out on this chance to enhance your understanding of SRE practices. 🗓 Date: October 10th 📍 Location: Stary Maneż #SRE #SPGlobal #TechTalk

Headed to Stockholm for the a little late KuberTENes event this evening! I go on stage 18:20 with the topic "The next ten years of Kubernetes". That is, if the train is able to start moving again! 😰 Sadly there's been an accident on the way and I hope the authorities and emergency responders can successfully handle it and help everyone involved! 💙 If I do make it (I have margins, so I am not really worried yet!), my talk is about how Kubernetes helped us go from the horrors of the "it works on my machine" era to where we are today... ...but also an honest and realistic look at what it means to manage Kubernetes (whether at the scale we do at Elastisys or "just" a handful of clusters) in 2024. As you most likely know and agree, it's not super simple at all, and you'll hear what I think we, as a community, should be striving for in Kubernetes' **next** decade. So not only celebrate our first ten years and achievements, but to give some ideas for what we could strive for. I very much look forward to sharing the stage with Andreas Holmsten from Elastx, Emma Lundström from Redpill Linpro, and Linus Östberg from Conoa, and for the discussions and mingling afterwards! See you in Stockholm! Oh yeah, and if you haven't signed up, or if you have and realized you can't make it, please update your RSVP status here! https://lnkd.in/d83P-Wu7 And as always: please follow me (Lars) if you think #DevOps, #PlatformEngineering, #Kubernetes, and #CompassionateLeadership is interesting. I certainly do!
