We hear a lot about environmental changes from the people we interview on the Navajo Nation: Natural springs drying up, native plants disappearing. Sometimes the blame is placed on the loss of language and traditional ways and the disconnect between the people and the land. But sometimes the finger is pointed at corporations that are so consumed with profits that they disregard the environmental impact their business has on local communities. Learn about one Navajo woman-led non-profit that's been fighting corporations like these for decades. https://lnkd.in/g-JKuit4

Acres of Ancestry: A Member of the Faith and Philanthropy Pooled Fund “The land is central to our #liberation. It’s central to our #spiritualpractice. It’s central to #culturalpreservation.” — Tracy McCurty, key leader of the Acres of Ancestry Initiative. The Acres of Ancestry Initiative — a member of the Faith and Philanthropy Pooled Fund — is dedicated to preserving Black ancestral farmland and cultural traditions in the Southern United States. Through #spiritualhealing and economic justice, the initiative works to protect the legacy of Black farmers and artisans, ensuring that land, culture, and history are passed down to future generations. How #Spirituality Makes Their Work Different: At the heart of the Acres of Ancestry Initiative is the understanding that land is central to both liberation and cultural memory. Rooted in Southern Black agrarian ways of knowing, their work is about more than land ownership — it's about spiritual healing, reclaiming cultural traditions, and rebuilding communities. By intertwining faith, ancestral knowledge, and economic justice, they create a space where joy and resilience thrive alongside justice. About the F&P Fund The Faith and Philanthropy Pooled Fund is a collaborative initiative of funders and partners in mission, aiming to catalyze change within the world of philanthropy. The fund provides support to Sacred-centered organizations and leaders who have been marginalized, undervalued, or excluded. Through videos that highlight their stories, we see the powerful role of #spirituality and #faith in driving #socialchange. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gHj8T3jS

🇺🇸 As many celebrate the 4th of July, a day symbolizing freedom and independence, we are reminded of Frederick Douglass’ words: “Your high independence only reveals the immeasurable distance between us.” We recognize continued distance between the promises of independence and the realities faced by Indigenous communities. At Tiwahe Foundation, we are dedicated to empowering and resourcing the reconnection to Indigenous lifeways and cultural knowledge — disrupted by the boarding school era and hundreds of years of settler colonialism. Our work, alongside every Native nonprofit, is part of a broader movement for Indigenous leadership and the restoration of our cultural heritage. 🌿✨ This 4th of July, we call on every American to take a moment to better understand and recognize the immense value Indigenous lifeways have held on this land long before the United States was founded. Indigenous values center balance with the land, fostering communities grounded in respect, reciprocity, and resilience. These principles are not relics of the past but vital teachings that can guide us toward a more just and sustainable future. 🌍🪶 How will you honor Indigenous contributions to the United States today? #IndependenceDay #IndigenousLeadership #TiwaheFoundation

"Be the change you wish to see in the world." – Mahatma Gandhi In times of conflict and uncertainty, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the weight of division, to point fingers, or to sink into despair. But the real difference begins with action—action that builds bridges, not walls; fosters understanding, not anger; and creates community, not division. The Bethlehem Interfaith Chapel offers a way to transform your energy into something powerful: hope. Every time you feel the urge to blame a side, channel that frustration into change. Donate $10, $50, or even $500, and be part of the solution. This isn’t just about symbolic giving. It’s about tangible impact—providing education, fostering community, and hosting meaningful discussions that open hearts and minds. It’s about creating a shared space for symbolic gatherings and events that unite a region yearning for peace. Join us in rewriting the narrative. Together, we can transform blame into a brighter future. Click here to make your contribution and be the difference today: https://lnkd.in/ezVDhRHc

Created by Matika Wilbur, @project_562 is a multi-year national photography project dedicated to photographing over 562 federally recognized Tribes, urban Native communities, Tribes fighting for federal recognition and Indigenous role models in what is currently-known-as the United States, resulting in an unprecedented repository of imagery and oral histories that accurately portrays contemporary Native Americans. "Land acknowledgement is empty without action behind it," says Project 562. "Therefore, we should shift to a frame of Land Back. This includes, but is not restricted to, the physical rematriation of land, revitalization of Indigenous knowledges, and a reconnection of the human and non-human relatives in a given region. There is so much potential for solidarity from non-natives. Participate in giving to Native organizations, donating to the Indigenous communities whose land you reside on, build a relationship with the people and their history. Be generous, not only monetarily, but with time and talents too. Make space, redistribute power. Reframe the day and be in good relations." #IndigenousPeoplesDay

As Indigenous Peoples, we reject the celebration of colonial holidays that are rooted in the GENOCIDIAL erasure of Indigenous Peoples from Turtle Island to Palestine, and beyond. The one-sided, false narrative of “Thanksgiving” was forged to conceal the violent and brutal stealing of Indigenous lands and the attempted destruction of our cultures. This narrative ultimately romanticizes and glorifies colonialism while ignoring the ongoing struggles of Indigenous Peoples who are fighting for survival, justice, and sovereignty. We also continuously demand and organize for #LANDBACK — to exercise our inherent sovereign rights, to repair our relationship with Mother Earth, and rebuild connections with one another and all life. This is about ensuring a future where Indigenous ways of life are honored, protected, and upheld for generations to come. Support Indigenous-led movements today and forever GLOBALLY—movements dedicated to defending our lands, waters, languages, and traditions for the benefit of all people and Mother Earth. Your monetary support sustains organizations like ours, and your solidarity helps amplify our work so if able make your impact today at ndncollective.org/donate. Follow and support these Indigenous-led organizations + all the other grassroots groups supporting LANDBACK and join the movement to defend, develop, and decolonize: @puebloactionalliacnce @rednationmovement @nativeorganizersalliance @urbandindigenouscollective +Others #NOTTHANKSGIVING #FREEPALESTINE #LANDBACK
