If I could give one piece of advice to anyone in the fundraising field, it would be to expand your metrics of success beyond dollar amounts. How many conversations were had? How many new donors? What is the retention rate? Look at what results in dollars raised instead of just straight finances.

Can we give you some advice? Your job as a fundraiser will be SO MUCH easier if you work from a profile of qualified donors, rather than wasting time and effort chasing donors who don't really value you or your organization. A qualified donor is someone who has expressed a desire to communicate with you and to have a relationship with your organization. When you reach out to a qualified donor, you'll see more engagement, rather than being ghosted for days or even weeks at a time. Want to learn our method for qualifying your donors? We've got a free resource that will teach you so you can stop wasting time waiting for unqualified donors to respond. Click here to check it out: https://lnkd.in/eHQSNxWV

We don't have donors! Where do we start? A common question for sure and one that many organizations need help with. Here's where I usually start: 1. Friends and family: people who care about you will come alongside the things you care about. Ask them to give, but even more importantly, ask them to introduce you to people who may have a passion for your cause. 2. Board members: something a leader told me years ago is that a board should give and get others to give. Ask them to give something, but also ask them to introduce and endorse you to people in their network. 3. Volunteers: some volunteers do so because they can't give, but many will want to support your organization with time and finances. 4. Local businesses: many local businesses have giving back as a part of their presence in the community. This may be in the form of cash, but could also be gifts-in-kind. #donors #wheredoistart
