Over 14 million, or 1 in 4 older adults report falling every year in the U.S. Falls result in more than 2.8 million injuries treated in emergency departments annually, including over 800,000 hospitalizations and more than 27,000 deaths. Falls, with or without injury, carry a heavy impact on the quality of life, often leading to fear that limits activities and social engagements. This can spiral into physical decline, depression, and social isolation. However, we can help prevent falls by encouraging regular exercise for improved strength and balance, ensuring well-lit homes free of tripping hazards, recommending vision and hearing checks, reviewing medications for fall risk-increasing side effects, and suggesting appropriate assistive devices. These simple steps can make a substantial difference in maintaining the safety, independence, and overall well-being of our our elderly loved ones. #fallspreventionawarenessday #preventfalls #elderlycare #seniorcitizenscare #supportelders #RisingHealth #RisingPharmaceuticals #pharma #healthcare
