Data & AI Strategy Consultant | Speaking, sketching and writing about the data world | "I believe that usable data will always lead to valuable data."
As February drew to a close, so did my intensive "𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭" evening course at UC Leuven-Limburg, a key component of the Postgraduate Data and Analytics program. 📖 In this post, I'd like to share a #sneakpeek of my course! Centered on four critical inquiries essential for any data initiative, the course delved into: 💎 𝐓𝐡𝐞 '𝐖𝐡𝐲' - Identifying the unique value that a data use case can bring. 🎲 𝐓𝐡𝐞 '𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭' - Determining the necessary data, transformations, and outputs to realize this value. 🤼 𝐓𝐡𝐞 '𝐖𝐡𝐨' - Pinpointing the future users of the data initiative. 🗺 𝐓𝐡𝐞 '𝐇𝐨𝐰' - Outlining key inputs for the implementation process, including considerations for data management. We embraced a 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬-𝐨𝐧 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, employing the data use case canvas to develop ideas into practical data initiatives. This methodological tool aids in effectively conceptualizing and presenting data projects. In the concluding phase, we explored how the synthesis of the whys, whats, whos, and hows across various initiatives can lay a robust foundation for an organization’s data roadmap. A special thank you to Inge Stas for granting me this enriching opportunity! 👉 𝘏𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘦𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘷𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘶𝘱𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘴? Excited to share that I've earned the "Introduction to Analytics" badge from Northeastern University Toronto. Through this achievement, I explored analytics concepts and practices across diverse industries, delving into case studies that showcased the impact of data collection and analysis on decision-making processes. Engaging with current theories and practices, I critically examined the field of analytics. The badge signifies my proficiency in applying basic probability concepts, identifying statistical measures, utilizing "R" for data processing, and demonstrating how data analysis influences operational and strategic decision-making. I've also honed the skill of visualizing data for compelling, data-driven storytelling. Beyond that, I now possess a comprehensive understanding of the major steps in an analytics project, different job functions within the field, and where I fit into the data analytics ecosystem. Ready to apply these insights in real-world scenarios! #DataDrivenDecisions #Analytics #Certification #lifelonglearning

Continuing with the exploration of case methods, similar to those used by Harvard Business School, I want to highlight that these learning approaches are valuable tools for analyzing and solving specific business situations or challenges. In the context of a data warehouse, applying case methods involves addressing practical issues and proposing well-founded solutions. The essence of this exercise, presented in PDF format, contains three strategic questions under an analytics scenario and resembles the structure of a case study, presenting a concrete problem and requesting proposals based on experience and logical reasoning. The application of case methods in the field of a data warehouse is not only an effective educational strategy but also a valuable tool in developing analytical skills. Additionally, it facilitates the ability to make informed decisions in specific business situations, providing professionals with a practical and applied perspective that is essential in today's business environment. #CaseMethodsInDataWarehousing #BusinessAnalysisSkills #StrategicProblemSolving
