Communication is key to building relationships. While we tend to default to verbal communication, there are other forms that often are just as important and impactful to connect with people. My son has an #autism diagnosis and is non-verbal, so communicating with him in other ways is something my family has had to learn. He currently communicates with an augmentative and alternative communication device; or as my youngest calls it - his "iPad talker." He also uses non-verbal communication to endear himself to his therapists to avoid doing work and get hugs and tickles.
