October 7th marks both Child Health Day and Trigeminal Neuralgia Awareness Day – two important causes that highlight the need for health advocacy and support. 👶 Child Health Day reminds us of the critical importance of fostering healthy lifestyles and environments for our children. From proper nutrition and physical activity to mental health and regular checkups, it's essential that we prioritize the well-being of the next generation. Healthy kids today lead to healthier adults tomorrow. 💙 On Trigeminal Neuralgia Awareness Day, we stand in solidarity with those suffering from this painful neurological condition. Often called the "suicide disease" due to the severity of the pain, trigeminal neuralgia impacts quality of life in profound ways. Greater awareness, research, and medical support can make a significant difference for those affected. Let’s come together on this day to promote the health and wellness of children, while also raising awareness and advocating for those struggling with trigeminal neuralgia. #ChildHealthDay #TrigeminalNeuralgiaAwareness #HealthAdvocacy #HealthyKids #NeurologicalHealth #PainAwareness

💜 EDFA's Impactful Team Gathering 💼 The Eating Disorders Families Australia (EDFA) operations team got together for its annual strategy meeting in Melbourne this week, spending two days discussing our 2024 theme of impact and aligning our activities with a new five-year strategic plan. The team shared insights, recognised strengths, and collaboratively explored how they could contribute to the broader goal of creating lasting change for eating disorder families in Australia. The result was innovative ideas, wonderful suggestions for improvement, and renewed energy to better the lives of carers of those with an eating disorder. The gathering involved more than strategic planning; it was also a celebration of the team's commitment to each other, to EDFA, and most importantly, to our community of wonderful carers who are the frontline when it comes to eating disorder recovery. Our team members, who usually work remotely from all over Australia, enjoyed the opportunity to meet in person and set the tone for the year ahead. If you're interested in learning more about EDFA's plans for 2024 or exploring potential collaborations, reach out to our team. We are excited about the year ahead and the potential to achieve better outcomes for families and individuals affected by eating disorders through EDFA support, education, advocacy and counselling. "With patient navigation, [it's] that extra layer of checking in with somebody, making sure that all of their socioeconomic needs are met, and their mental health needs are addressed within a family planning visit, and any other need that may arise that may contribute to their physical health that the provider is not able to address at that visit. " In our latest video, learn how the Konza Prairie Community Health Center, a #TitleX funded service site, partners with a local agency to provide patient navigation services that address maternal health needs and help to deliver #WholePersonCare in rural Kansas: https://lnkd.in/gfHa4wEU

In today's world, where access to accurate health information can be a game-changer, it's crucial that we come together to uplift and educate our communities. My journey in community health awareness has shown me that knowledge truly is power. Whether it's breaking the stigma around mental health, promoting healthy habits among the youth, or ensuring that everyone has access to essential medical services, our collective efforts make a difference. Today, as I reflect on the impactful health sessions we've conducted—whether it's in schools or out in the field during community outreaches—I am reminded of the incredible resilience and strength within our communities. From educating young girls about menstrual health to offering medical services to underserved populations, every initiative is a step toward a healthier, more informed future. Health isn't just about the absence of illness; it's about fostering a sense of well-being, dignity, and empowerment in every individual. As we continue this journey, let's remember that we all have a role to play. Together, we can conquer stigma, raise awareness, and build healthier, stronger communities. Here's to continuing the work, making every conversation count, and ensuring that no one is left behind. Let's keep pushing forward, one health talk, one outreach, and one person at a time. 💪🌟
