We are elated to work with Reina Peh and her team Ryan Tan, Bryan L., and Tanveer Singh at the National University of Singapore to leverage our multispectral image sensor, S1, for eczema identification. By combining spectral imaging and machine learning, the solution enables early detection and long-term monitoring of eczema, in addition to enhanced erythema quantification & classification, which is not visible by the naked eye. 🎉 Congrats to the team for winning the 2nd prize at the Medical Grand Challenge! #Innovation #Multispectral #SpectralImaging #MedicalGrandChallenge #MGC #NUS

🏆🤝🏻 Ryan Tan, Bryan L., Tanveer Singh and I won 2nd Place - $15,000 cash prize, out of all global teams at the NUS Medical Grand Challenge, where participants from Computer Science, Data Science and Medicine backgrounds combined their skills for medical innovation! #Eczema affects over 223 million people globally. In Europe alone, the economic burden of moderate to severe Eczema cases is estimated at €30 billion annually. Hence, we partnered with the European startup, Spectricity, leveraging their multispectral image sensor S1 — the world's first miniaturized mobile spectral image sensor — to capture 16-color channels high-resolution MSI data for advanced skin analytics of chromophores, moisture, and vascular changes. This data trains ensemble machine learning models (neural networks) to identify patterns in 7 Eczema classifications for objective diagnosis and prediction of flare-ups, thus promoting early intervention and precise treatment strategies. This achievement would not have been possible without my incredibly talented and wonderful teammates! Together, we persevered through 5 judging stages and 3 rigorous rounds in the final stage. We were also impressed by the other teams from Southeast Asia, Canada, China, India, United States and United Kingdom, who presented their impactful work 👍 A sincere thank you to all who supported and guided us during this journey: Organisers: NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine NUS Medical Grand Challenge Yinn Yi Lee Wang Weihan Spectricity: Robbe Van Beers Henrik Andersen Yi-Hsuan (Tiffany) Wu Glenn Vandevoorde Jonathan Borremans Judges: Prof. Audrey Chia Prof. Dean Ho Dr. Roland Xu Dr. Rosa So Advisors: Dr. Mark Koh Dr. Dujeepa D.
