☀️ We had an amazing time at the Fiesta Extravaganza this past weekend hosted by the Filipino Canadian Association of Vaughan! The Spectrum Talent Acquisition and York PSW team loved meeting everyone and sharing why caring matters at Spectrum and how we go the extra mile to support our team members. Throughout the weekend, attendees had the opportunity to learn more about Spectrum Health Care and explore exciting job opportunities within the York region. Attendees also had the chance to win prizes and receive some awesome swag. Check out what our team was up to!

All of these Psychologists have certainly made important contributions. But using citation metrics to rank "Top" scientists ignores the many other ways that scientists contribute to or harm scientific progress. As we've recently seen in various fraud and questionnable research practice investigations in the behavioral sciences, some scientists may look astounding on a limited number of dimensions such as citations or publications, but pollute the scientific literature with unreliable research or as toxic mentors and colleagues. By focusing on individual achievements, such metrics incentivize scientists to do whatever is best for their careers, regardless of what is best for science. We need to move towards a system when scientists are rewarded or punished for their entire range of contributions to science, not just their individual achievements. This is a pretty cool accolade to have and a great group of colleagues to be in.

Sometimes, letting the engineering team speak to the real problems can motivate the client towards real solutions. This whole notion of sales teams and engineering teams not being on the same page is a problem that I continually have to solve for companies, when brought in to handle "system issues". Sales teams provide feedback for engineers on the customer experience, and defines the fiscal opportunity/risk. Engineering teams provide insights to sales on design decisions, scheduling, known solutions, and should be the metric for a businesses productivity levels. It's very common for sales and engineering teams to not be on the same page, and the worst part of it is the number of companies who are okay keeping these skeletons in the closet - because who wants to take responsibility for the problem when it's you? #engineeringproblems #technicaldebt #brokencode #spaghetti #cicd #mismanagement #guidelines #regulations #procedures #mobileapp #softwaredeveloper

I am proud to be part of the core committee that organized this successful event. Key takeaways: ✨Have an open mind - Always explore and entertain new ideas. You'll be surprised how a seemingly "trivial" suggestion becomes the perfect formula you seek. ✨Share, share, share - Ensure your group members are updated. Changed the house rules? Share. Changed the program details? Share. Changed the document format? Share. It's easy to align when group members are aware of what is going on. It also saves time from the frequent back-and-forth ✨Have FUN - Tasks can be overwhelming, but hey, give yourself some slack! See you at the next Summer Funfest! #DeliveringMeaningfulExperiences #DMEServiceSolutions
🌟 Unplugged and Unforgettable! 🌟 Our annual Summer Funfest was nothing short of spectacular. The DME Service Solutions team cherished every moment of face-to-face connection, creating lasting memories well beyond the event. Here's to more smiles and shared moments! #InsideDME

Hello friends, scientists and communicators! Here is a little #mondaymotivation for you all. At CSIRO Publishing I run so many workshops and very frequently hear participants say "my English isn't good enough for academic writing" or "I'm not confident with my English." I have a confession: Despite teaching writing for a living, good spelling and grammar don't come easily to me and I've had to put in the practice. In fact the post I'm sharing comes from someone who was extremely patient with my early academic writing efforts and personally inspires me. Dr Michael Seery shares a mural from their workplace at the Centre for Academic Language and Develop at the University of Bristol: "Academic Language is no one's mother tongue". I would like to add that no one is born a good writer - there are just people that have had more practice at it! I hope this inspires you today to put aside your worries about being a "good writer", sit down and write for 15 minutes and practice writing some words on a page. Come back and edit them later. #academicwriting #scientificwriting #peerreviewed #motivation #writinghabits #science

https://lnkd.in/ejdUniVa This is Novina the prolific sellers of mis-sold timeshare personal loans. Took elderly, terminally ill and dying consumers through a decade of denying them a fair resolution to their complaints. Lost at Judicial Review more people died awaiting justice. Lost at Judicial Review and Novuna are now ignoring the Rule of Law by continuing to reject timeshare consumer complaints. For all of you thinking that Novuna are the epitome of success, let’s hope it’s not a member of your family,or a relative of yours who have fallen foul of Novuna’s disgraceful consumer mis-selling. When they remove this post because they don’t want people to know how they are treating elderly, terminally ill consumers we will repost and continue to do so until they do the right thing.
Welcome to the team, Debbie Scholefield! We’re so happy you’ve joined us and hope you have enjoyed your first week at Novuna 🙂

Celebrating Achievements on LinkedIn: January A Month of Collective Success Stories Did anyone else notice on LinkedIn that January was a month of a true testament to the spirit of unity and celebration? It was genuinely inspiring to witness so many peers and connections honor their previous year’s achievements. This period reminded us of the essence of moving forward, leaving behind negativity to embrace life’s fullness. It was about coming together to acknowledge our collective hard work and dedication. The atmosphere was reminiscent of the times when anticipation for president’s club awards and trips filled the air. The rewards were extravagant and varied, from luxury watches and cars to all-expenses-paid vacations. These tokens of appreciation weren’t just for the individual but extended to their peers and loved ones, enhancing the sense of community and shared success. Company trips varied in scale, some accommodating hundreds, while others were intimate gatherings of a president’s club of five. But regardless of the size, the underlying message was clear – let’s continue to celebrate our achievements, both big and small. Such moments strengthen our bonds and renew our commitment to excellence. Hard Work Works! #UnityInSuccess #CelebratingAchievements #PresidentsClubMemories #MDPen #LinkedIn #Calibration #TogetherWeGrow

I'm still buzzing from the opportunity to see Jude and Marcus speak 2 weeks ago. I left the event inspired about the work that we do and how to continue to push the conversations forward on how we treat and use data in our day to day work. As Dr. Marcus Collins challenged us..."We don't see the world as 'what' it is, we see the world as "WHO we are". Noodling on that will expand your horizons of how you approach the work that you do regardless of part of the 'organization' you are with. I'm left with these additional nuggets of wisdom from the talk from both Dr. Marcus Collins and Judith Carr-Rodriguez... 1 - Consumption is a CULTURAL act. 2 - Don't mistake information for intimacy. 3 - Shakespeare was right - "All the world's a stage, and we are merely [SOCIAL] actors." 4 - Stories of 'failure' generally result in stories of innovation. 5 - Don't confuse kindness with weakness. 6 - Good storytelling and creativity is 'messy' - it is likely clear at the beginning, messy in the middle and magical by the end. 7 - The messy middle is necessary! 8 - Sometimes the obvious isn't obvious until it's pointed out. #alwayslearning #4As
