A tip to those who are or want to be in the military, politics or corporate. If you find yourself in peace, however that miracle occurred, do everything in your power to maintain it. However, If war becomes inevitable and peace must break, then make sure you break it first. 😉

I Help Organizations In Science, Tech, Healthcare & Finance Grow Revenue, Reduce Costs & Mitigate Risk | Speaker | Author | Book Me To Talk About The Burning Economic & Political Issues Of Today
Most wars are started by countries which are led by autocrats, who put their own interests and personal ambitions above the wishes of the people in the countries they lead. Liberal democracies can go to war too, of course, but they tend to be dragged into them, rather than be the instigators. I explain what I think are the reasons behind this in my book Doomed To Fail, which was written as a warning and a call to action to defend liberal democracies and capitalism. For all their messiness, compromises and indecisiveness, liberal democracies are infinitely better than any other option, and it's a tragedy that faith in democracy as a political framework has fallen to the current low levels in so many countries. Those of us who have the good fortune to live in a democracy should do everything in our power to defend it! https://lnkd.in/ekrqQXUy
Last weekend I visited Flanders and was gobsmacked by Tyne Cot at Passendale, which is the largest Commonwealth war grave cemetery with 11,954 young men buried in military formation 😲 Ironically the cemetery is built on top of a German pill box... There are over 200 Commonwealth cemeteries in the area which is mind blowing testament to the continuing futility of war 📈 20 million lost their lives in this conflict that was supposed to end all conflicts and then of course 4 times that number lost their lives in WW2 just 25 years later. Why?

September 11th not only signifies the anniversary of the tragic events that happened 22 years ago… it is also the day that my son deploys for the military. Today, I am a proud father and deeply humbled by the sacrifices he will make for our country. I want to honor him and all the armed services who stand to protect our country. My heart goes out to all the victims of 9/11 and their families. We will never forget. #GodBlessAmerica #NeverForget #Route65Financial #PersonalFinances #FinancialServices #WealthManagement #SocialSecurityPlanning #IndependentFinancialFirm #FinancialPlanning

International Relations | Championing Refugee Rights & Host Communities (6+ Years) in East & Central Africa | Climate Action Advocate.
Inspired by Dunant: A Call for Neutrality in Today's Conflicts The Early Spark: Many years ago, while still in primary school, I learned about Henry Dunant and the Battle of Solferino as well as #HINIVUU from Draleti Zira, the then-local Uganda Red Cross Society branch secretary and brother of Justin Dralaze Zira (may he rest in peace). The story's impact was immediate – I felt the pain and imagined myself in Dunant's shoes. This experience ignited a passion for humanitarian work that has shaped my life - from being a Boy Scout and blood donor to becoming a life member of the Ugandan Red Cross Society, working in the health sector, and participating in refugee emergency operations. Dunant's Legacy in Modern Conflicts: If Dunant witnessed today's conflicts, he would likely be deeply troubled. The ferocity of current battles, with wounded soldiers often left unattended or even targeted, mirrors the horrors of Solferino in 1859. Medical services remain overwhelmed, just as they were 165 years ago. Despite Dunant's lack of medical training, he took the initiative to organize locals to assist the wounded. Challenges to Neutrality: Similar to Dunant's time, humanitarian organizations face significant challenges. While some NGOs strive to deliver healthcare in conflict zones, they are often wrongly accused of taking sides. Other actors may demand their support be limited to specific groups, hindering the neutrality that allows them to reach those most in need across battle lines. Respecting IHL and Enabling Neutrality: All parties to a conflict, including governments, non-state armed groups, and civilians, have a responsibility to uphold the universal rules of war, known as International Humanitarian Law (IHL). This framework, ratified by all 196 states, dictates how war is waged and protects civilians and wounded soldiers. On this anniversary of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)'s founding, let us recommit to respecting organizations like the ICRC and their adherence to the seven Fundamental Principles: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, and Universality (#HINIVUU). Only through respecting neutrality can these organizations effectively fulfill their mandates in conflict zones, disaster areas, and displacement situations around the globe. #ICRC #NotAtarget #IHL #IHRL #UNGA
On June 24, 1859, Henry Dunant witnessed the horrors of the Battle of Solferino, in Italy. The suffering he saw inspired him to dedicate his life to aiding those in conflict. Dunant proposed a treaty obligating armies to care for all wounded soldiers and the establishment of national societies to support military medical services. Motivated to continue supporting those affected by armed conflicts, in 1863, he co-created the International Committee of the Red Cross and started the biggest humanitarian network in the world.
