Auditory processing disorder (APD) is when the brain cannot interpret sounds correctly. People with APD may find it difficult to notice subtle differences in words. Noisy environments can make it more challenging to take in verbal information. Certain treatments and management strategies can help a person manage APD. People with brain injury can benefit significantly from interventions targeting emotion regulation. Below is a graph from one of our studies, showing that after participating in our EmReg intervention, there was a significant reduction in problems with emotion regulation. Twelve weeks after they completed EmReg, our participants continued to improve.
