What happens after PRESS DAY?
I've written PRESS DAY in capitals because that’s how it looms in the calendar each month. It’s the day we upload Outdoor Swimmer to the printer. Once it’s done, we have a brief moment to celebrate and relax, but the work isn’t over. Here are a few things we do, as well as getting started with the next issue:
- create and upload the files for our digital editions
- create marketing assets for the new issue
- upload premium content to our website
- prepare our weekly email newsletter
- continue marketing activity for our current issue
Last Thursday was PRESS DAY for our January issue (see below), which is being printed now and should be posted next week, hopefully arriving between Christmas and New Year. It seems strange to be thinking about January before Christmas, but that’s what we have to do. The issue looks great, BTW.
**It's press day**
In the magazine world, you always work ahead of the actual season, but it never seems so strange as at this time of year. When everyone else is preparing for Christmas, we're producing our January issue.
Outdoor swimming, it seems, attracts a lot of creative people. In turn, those creative people are inspired by their swimming and connection to water. Our theme for January explores the links between swimming and creativity, and it all starts with this wonderful cover designed by swimmer and artist Nancy Farmer.
This went to the printer today and will be posted next week. It should therefore land with subscribers sometime between Christmas and New Year.

4moA great initiative - good luck with your life-saving mission! Unfortunately, the number of non-swimmers is also rising continuously here in Germany for various reasons - the goal must be to ensure that every child can swim safely by the end of elementary school. After all, we were born in the water... 🏊♀️
