October is Free Wills Month, meaning you can write your will for free with our free will writing service. 💚
Wills are important to protect your family, but is often something that people put off because they think it's time-consuming and expensive. We've worked with our partner, Bequeathed, to provide a way for families and supporters to make their will easily online, for free, to give security for the future.
You can also choose to leave a gift in your will for Candlelighters. Whether this is big or small, gifts in wills are a very special way to protect the future for children with cancer. By leaving a donation to Candlelighters in your will, you are leaving a lasting legacy that will help us continue to invest in life-changing research, and support future generations of children and families facing childhood cancer – from diagnosis to recovery and beyond. 💕

How your donation helps:
Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — so they can focus on helping their child live
Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened in 1962. And we won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
St. Jude shares the breakthroughs it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands of children.
Join us! Together we can help St. Jude change the world.
OneBlood is Back to Normal Operations! Your Donations are Crucial!
Exciting news! OneBlood has resumed normal operations following last week's ransomware attack. Our systems are fully restored, enabling us to distribute blood products to hospitals across Florida and the southeast once again.
Why Donate Blood and Platelets?
In the U.S., someone needs a blood transfusion every two seconds. Blood and platelet donations are essential for surgeries, cancer treatments, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries, making a life-saving impact on those in need.
How You Can Help:
- Donate Blood or Platelets: Head to your nearest OneBlood donor center or locate a blood drive nearby. Your donation plays a critical role in maintaining a stable blood supply.
- Spread the Word: Encourage friends, family, and colleagues to donate. Sharing this post raises awareness about the importance of blood and platelet donations.
- Make It a Habit: Regular donations ensure a consistent blood supply. Today's donor is tomorrow's hero.
Thank you for your unwavering support and generosity. Together, we can guarantee that blood is accessible when and where it is most needed.

Last week, our team participated in the 3rd Annual TBB Charity Golf Outing. TBB, or The Team Bradley Bear Foundation, was created in honor of Bradley Cassavant, who lost his life to a rare brain tumor at the young age of 13 months. Follow the link below to learn how you can support families and children battling life-threatening illnesses, including ATRT, medulloblastoma, and similar illnesses. https://hubs.li/Q02T6sdG0

What did you do on your lunch break?
It’s better to give than receive! A few fun facts about O+blood:
Donating: O+ donors can donate blood to patients with any positive blood type or O+ blood. Whole blood is the most needed donation for O+ donors. O+ blood is also ideal for Super Reds donations, which provide patients with twice as many red blood cells.
Receiving: O+ donors can only receive blood from O+ and O- donors.
Special considerations: O+ donors who are CMV negative are known as Heroes for Babies at the Red Cross because their blood is the safest for transfusions for immune deficient newborns. I am one those Heroes and have done a direct donation for a preemie before!
In just a few short weeks I’ve raised $2,300 for LLS with a goal to raise $10,000 before Light The Night on October 26th. While this might seem like just a small piece of the $1.7 billion LLS has invested in cancer research, my goal has the potential to provide an impact in multiple ways.
What we raise in the next few days can make a year-long impact for blood cancer patients struggling with the cost of cancer.
I’d ask that you consider making a donation to support my efforts to raise funds for LLS a donation. Here is how your donation has the potential to make a difference:
$500 helps fund one week of LLS-sponsored group support for families dealing with blood cancer treatment.
$1000 provides financial assistance for non-medical expenses, including rent or mortgage, utilities, dependent care, food, and car repairs, related to treatment to a pediatric or young adult patient through our Urgent Need Program.
$2,500 helps fund the cost of nurses providing patients and parents/caregivers with clinical trial search navigation and support through The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Clinical Trial Support Center.
If you are available, please join me on October 26th for the Light the Night Walk!
I would greatly appreciate your support as we lead into the final few weeks before we Light The Night on Saturday, October 26th! You can make a tax-deductible contribution through my link, https://lnkd.in/gVejDsWb.
It's easy to forget to apply sunscreen, keep hydrated, and take breaks when you're engrossed in physical activity and having fun 💦
As much as we love being out on the water in the warmer weather, we have to remember to take care of ourselves and each other ☀️
Education on how to look after one another is key and the Melanoma Fund has shared a useful toolkit on Sunguarding Outdoors. It serves as a useful checklist to ensure we are doing everything we can to minimise risk ✅️

Today, we want to raise awareness of the Melanoma Fund's Silhouettes campaign, which highlights the critical need for sun protection in outdoor sports.
Melanoma is nearly 100% curable at stage one, yet it remains one of the deadliest cancers, claiming over 2,300 lives annually in the UK. With summer sports and rowing action in full swing, it's crucial to protect your skin and get regular checks.
Let's enjoy the sun and keep our skin safe! Find out more about the brilliant Silhouettes campaign here: https://t.ly/fPBD0#Rowing#Charity#CancerAwareness
