I really enjoyed this talk, a nice comparison of flow sorters and technology. The emphasis was NOT on building 40+ colour panels, instead Florin Tuluc from Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute focused on usability, performance, reliability... the things most important to a flow core. Also great to see Florin talk about the 13 or so years journey to get to where they are today and mentioning the importance of the local engineers in responding quickly. #flowcytometry #cellsorting

Together, Aaron Wheeler’s lab and Sartorius, an international leader in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, have created a new technology to help reduce the time-to-market and development costs of therapeutic antibodies. Thrilled to share that my latest work from Aaron Wheeler's lab is now published in Lab-on-a-Chip! We developed a novel digital microfluidic device that can perform cell viability, media pH, and antibody titre assays using only 6-8 microlitre samples of cell culture! As proof-of-concept, we used the device for testing some antibody-producing cells provided by our collaborators at Sartorius, demonstrating the utility of the device for testing cell lines early in the expansion process. In future iterations, we plan to develop this into a fully integrated microbioreactor, which should be an invaluable new tool in the cell line development process.
