Are you keeping your Spill Kit properly maintained? Your spill kit provides a fast and direct response to workplace spills. Whether it's for general liquids, fuel, or Hazchem spills, the right spill kit can help you to contain potentially dangerous discharges. However, like all safety equipment within your business, your spill kit does require some maintenance in order to remain effective and ready for use. The basics: 1. Train personnel in spill kit maintenance 2. Make spill kit maintenance part of your routine 3. Conduct spill kit checks every 3 months What to include in spill kit maintenance: 4. Perform a spill kit contents check 5. Ensure all spill kit parts and supplies are in working order 6. Replace old or worn components 7. Make sure spill kits are strategically placed 8. Check for rubbish or other foreign objects What to avoid: 9. Without regular maintenance, people often don't discover that their spill kit parts and supplies are depleted, until a spill occurs, at which point it is too late. Don't let this happen to you. 10. As all spill kit components are housed within the product's container, there are often no obvious signs that it needs attention. The only way to ensure that your spill kit is always ready for use is with regular maintenance.

Recently a fire destroyed a 70ft yacht at the d'Albora Marina in Nelson Bay. Thankfully, firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby vessels and no one was injured, but the yacht unfortunately sank. We understand the critical role spill containment equipment plays in mitigating environmental damage during emergencies. In this instance, our absorbent pads were used to assist with the clean-up of leaked diesel fuel. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of having proper spill containment measures in place at marinas, docks, and other marine environments. Containment boom, spill kits, and absorbent pads can be readily deployed to contain spills and prevent them from contaminating waterways.
