Two of our support coordinators Rich and Joe joined forces earlier this week to deliver some in service training to the physio students the University of Cumbria earlier this week 🧑⚕️👨⚕️ It was great meeting you all, and we hope your knowledge of spinal cord injury has improved after hearing about our own lived experiences. Thank you again for such a warm welcome, good luck with your studies and we hope to see you again soon. #SpinalCordInjury #FrankWilliamsAcademy #SCI #Training

Fasted training is associated with a 1.61x increased incidence of bone injuries🚨 This new study investigated the associations between intentional… 📉 Reduced carb intake 🍽️ Fasted training …in elite endurance athletes (n = 327) 🚴♂️ 28% of athletes reported use of ⬇️ carb intake 38% of athletes reported use of fasted training 🦴 Incidence of bone injuries was also high (44%) Results showed there was no association between ⬇️ carb intake and bone injury ✅ However, incidence of bone injuries was 1.61x higher in those who currently used fasted training 🚨 …vs those who have never used it or used it in the past 👈 Future research is likely to investigate whether these is a causal relationship 🔍 Reference: https://lnkd.in/e8sURS6u

Yet another excellent study coming out of University of Warwick - Paramedic3 Interesting to see that as we see more patients having IO access as there only access in arrest that actually it seems to have worse outcomes. Although not massive differences in the numbers I still think I would prefer the extra 0.6% survival chance with IV access. I do wonder if the location of the IO was assessed? Did humeral head have better rates to tibial plateau? Or will this be paramedic4?? https://lnkd.in/dn4r7Dpc

Happy to share that I've recently completed my dissertation! The goal was to investigate the relationship between training load and injury incidence across a full season in an English football cohort through an 'injury/physio lense'. Although the emphasis was placed on analyzing GPS-derived variables (e.g. distance, accels, decels, sprint thresholds) between mesocycles and how this may explain for injury trends observed, the influence of mediating & moderating factors were also discussed to enable a more accurate analysis of the training load impact within a dynamic football environment. A massive thank you to my supervisor, Liam Anderson PhD, School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences, for his brilliant insight and guidance throughout these past few months. This has been instrumental in allowing me to continuing developing the clinical reasoning skills underpinning the field of physio & performance. For anyone interested in having a read of it, feel free to reach out as I'd be more than happy to share a copy! I'm also keen on connecting with others in similar fields (and catching up with past colleagues in this area)! #physiodissertation #sportscience #injuryprevention

🌟 Year in Review: 2024 🌟 2024 has been a year of growth and learning. While there have been many challenges, I'm grateful for the progress and achievements made along the way. A huge THANK YOU to everyone I've had the pleasure of working with this year! 🔬 Research I've been deeply involved in research this year, focusing on: #exercise #physicalactivity #chronicconditions #multimorbidity #msk #systematicreviews #randomisedcontrolledtrials Check out some of the work I've been involved. https://lnkd.in/dXGixsif 📚 Teaching Had the privilege of teaching master’s students about systematic reviews and the concept of exercise as medicine. It's inspiring to see the next generation of researchers and practitioners grow. 💪 👩⚕️ Clinician Training Also, I conducted training sessions for clinicians on exercise as medicine. Check these out: 🏴 https://lnkd.in/dPzi_5-i 🇮🇹 https://lnkd.in/dm2ueZEv 🏆 First Grant After many attempts, I finally secured my first grant! This milestone is a testament to perseverance and dedication. Excited for the opportunities this will bring in 2025! 🚀 💡 Challenges This journey has also included many failures, such as rejections from grants and scientific journals. 🌱 Follow my page if you find it useful 🙏

Simulation The world of simulation has advanced many folds. Students can now experience almost real world cases and practice the protocols before actually practicing in hospitals. Simulation is like support wheels when you are learning to ride bicycles. Have those wheels on as long as you need and take them off when you are ready to go on two wheels. IMU has spend wisely on developing simulation and AI world tools to develop education for students. The above picture was from teaching essentials of ACLS for FRACGP with Prof Hairul @tuanhairulnizam from USM. A good friend and wonderful emergency physician. #acls #bls #als #emergency #emergencymedicine #emergencyphysician #imu #internationalmedicaluniversity
