As a bullpen catcher, your bullpen sessions will not always be easy so be prepared to block. For example, when pitchers need to get hot fast during a game, chances are high for balls that will need to be blocked. Using dimple balls to practice absorbing when the ball needs to be blocked. New case ! A 74-year-old woman, who underwent left total hip replacement five years ago, presents with complaints of left hip pain localized to the lateral aspect and posterior thight pain extending beyond the knee. The pain is described as intermittent episodes of vague, nonspecific discomfort accompanied sometimes by change in sensation. Additionally, she has a pre-existing diagnosis of lower back pain attributed to a disc bulge. I didn't write the probable diagnosis, try to look it up and share your insights or thoughts on the likely diagnosis. 🦾 Will we soon have bionic limb replacements? A recent experiment involving the Mia Hand prosthetic, a product of Italian company Presilia, showed exceptional results. Karin, who lost most of her right arm due to a farming accident 20 years ago, has been successfully using this advanced bionic limb for years. 🧠 What sets Mia Hand apart from traditional prosthetics is its cutting-edge technology and AI integration. To fully take advantage of the advanced bionic hand, Karin underwent osseointegration during the attachment process, to strengthen the mechanical bond between her bone and implant. Surgeons also implanted electrodes in her arm muscles and nerves while rewiring some nerves in the remaining part of her arm As a result, Karin now enjoys a robotic limb that is directly linked to her neuromusculoskeletal system. ✋ The Mia Hand offers incredible control and comfort. It allows Karin to perform around 80% of daily tasks with ease - a feat she found challenging with previous prosthetics. Even more impressive, it has significantly reduced her phantom limb pain and lessened her dependency on medication. 🇪🇺 Karin's success story is just one among three patients enrolled in the DeTOP project - an extensive research study funded by the European Union involving scientists across Europe. As the latest data continues to shift the paradigm from resection to repair regarding horizontal cleavage tears (HCTs) in the meniscus, the optimal repair technique to treat HCTs is still up for debate. Considering the criteria of healing for HCTs, two techniques have become increasingly popular among the orthopedic community.
