Having been in the SAP industry for nearly 20 years, I’ve seen how both challenges and opportunities have evolved for women. Despite the strides we’ve made, many women still hesitate to enter this field. Here’s why, and why it’s time to change that: Perception of Complexity – SAP can seem too technical at first glance, but after two decades, I’ve seen that many roles focus on business strategy and innovation, areas where diverse perspectives, like those women bring, are critical. Lack of Industry Experience – Women often feel they don’t have enough domain expertise, but I’ve learned that SAP thrives on diversity—not just in gender but in experiences. SAP had a panel discussion on Empowering Innovation and Inspiring Innovation as part of the Global Kickoff for #internationalwomensday2024 We all need allies - I'm fortunate to have many men and women who propel me forward constantly Determination, drive and courage - keys to success coupled with empathy and equality. Thank you Supriya Jha for keeping it real with the constant juggling and balancing acts we do everyday to meet and exceed daily expectations and goals. Mentorship is an extremely important element - to identify career drivers and constantly expanding our network to include alliances As if listening to these wonderful women wasn’t sufficient, SAP is creating role models - SAP has 35.7% upwards of women in our workforce - SAP has almost 22% in executive ranks - SAP has returnship program tracking at 66% which is the most impressive KPI for me. As a mom, several times I've debated stepping out but this company is striving to provide the flexibility to lean in and lean on.
