Fun facts about music patterns 🎶😅 Did you know that Gorillaz’s “Clint Eastwood” song was built from a Suzuki Omnichord preset without changing it nor adding anything else than the vocals? https://lnkd.in/e7bF7fvx Or that Usher’s “Love in this club” and Rihanna’s “Umbrella”(-ella-ella) are taking Apple Loops quite literally? (Usher: https://lnkd.in/e3w2SgKK Rihanna: Vintage Funk Kit 03) ☔ So GenAI would not be the first time that someone builds a hit song from literal machine presets. 🤖🥇 That questions the role of voice, human agency and audience: 1) Voice: Is it the emotion in the singing and the mind-stirring lyrics that make these hit songs? Or are the musical patterns and the voice/lyrics an unbreakable whole? I tend to think that voice and vocal emotion are contributing a lot to musical impact and audience connection - including in electro and EDM. Technologically, that questions the quality of emotion rendering in modern vocal synthesis. Artistically, that validates the human singer + automatic music machine setup. 🤖🎤👩🏻🎤 2) Human agency: Imagine a gradient of human agency. At one end, playing all acoustic instruments by hand. Somewhere in the middle, a quantised MIDI samples score. At the other end, fully AI generated songs or Apple loops, agency reduced to curation. Or something else in the middle? I’ve had fun playing with Rishi Babu/Pitch Innovations’s GrooveShaper: just enough patterns but also just enough control to have fun and agency. Or Philippe Pasquier's Multitrack Music Machine (MMM https://lnkd.in/esBJvrgC): it conditionally generates MIDI tracks modifiable by hand. When it comes to "empowering everyone to create music", where is the sweet spot? ✍🏻❓ 3) Audience: Is it all marketing? Or is it culture? Are we seduced by the whole Gorillaz universe which blends comics, critical thinking about the environment, Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s big personalities? Do these hit the spot of many of us dreaming to love in this club or to shelter a dear friend under our umbrella(-ella-ella)? Or “man stop thinking too much it just sounds good”? But then if considering automatic music generation products we have to wonder: how and why does it sound good, and does AI-generated music actually sound good? (Ask Rick Beato: https://lnkd.in/exGFpStE) Will the audience’s taste and musical culture start shifting as a result of a flood of automatic music? 👨👩👧👦💹 Yesterday I was searching for B-Girl Ami’s Olympic performance on YouTube and gave up due to too many auto-generated videos devoid of that content. Will an excess of technology prompt creators and audiences to evade tech in aid of fully organic music, like Italo Calvino's character https://lnkd.in/e-Y6fmru who achieves freedom by stopping to read? 😎 The “creator empowerment” narrative might need more careful consideration... What do you think? 🤔⬇️

🏆 Taylor Swift Retains Crown as World's No. 1 Recording Artist 🌎🎶 2023 was a record-breaking year for Taylor Swift, who was named the world's No. 1 recording artist for the fourth time by IFPI. Swift achieved numerous milestones, including being the most-streamed artist on Spotify and Apple Music, having the top three best-selling albums in the United States, and grossing over $1 billion with her "Eras Tour," which also resulted in the highest-grossing concert movie of all time. 🎧As data shows, Swift topped the list of the world’s best-selling artists for the second year running after coming in second behind K-pop sensation BTS in 2021. While BTS fell out of this year’s top 10 due to their military service, other K-Pop acts such as SEVENTEEN, Stray Kids, and TOMORROW x TOGETHER made a big splash in 2023, with rising country star Morgan Wallen also new in the top 8. Aside from Taylor Swift, the only other constants in the ranking are Drake and The Weeknd, who have been among the world’s best-selling artists in each of the past three years. 🚀 Take Action: For artists and industry professionals looking to emulate Taylor Swift's success, focus on building a strong connection with your audience, continuously refining your craft, and exploring innovative ways to engage with fans, such as through tours and documentaries, and integrating audience O2O data. Greetings, esteemed network, I trust this message finds you well. Today, I wish to delve into a topic that resonates with us all - music. Music, in its myriad forms and genres, is a universal language that transcends borders and cultures. It has the power to evoke emotions, inspire creativity, and even heal. It is an integral part of our lives, shaping our experiences and memories. In the modern era, the process of creating music has evolved significantly. Recording music has become an art form in itself, requiring not just talent but also technical expertise. The process involves capturing sounds with the intent to manipulate them later, to create a cohesive piece of art that can be shared with the world. It's a meticulous process that requires precision and patience. However, recording music is just one part of the equation. To truly bring a musical piece to life, one needs the expertise of a producer. A producer's role in music creation is akin to a director's role in a film. They oversee the entire production process, from inception to completion. They guide musicians through recording sessions, help shape the sound and direction of the track, and ensure that the final product aligns with the artist's vision. The need for a producer cannot be overstated. They are instrumental in refining raw talent into polished performances. They bring an objective perspective to the table, helping artists make critical decisions about their work. Their technical knowledge allows them to optimize each element of a track - from vocals to instruments - ensuring every detail contributes to a harmonious whole. In essence, producers are catalysts for creativity. They foster an environment where artists can experiment freely while ensuring their vision is realized in its purest form. If you're an artist looking for a producer or someone interested in exploring this dynamic field further, I invite you to connect with me. Let's discuss how we can elevate your musical journey together. Remember - every great piece of music is a result of collaboration, dedication, and passion. Let's continue to celebrate and support the incredible talent within our industry. Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this fascinating subject. #Music #RecordingMusic #MusicProduction #ProducerNeeded #CACHAS #CACHASDaReal1One1

### Elevating the Role of Music Producers in an Evolving Industry The music industry is witnessing a paradigm shift as the role of music producers expands beyond traditional boundaries. Historically, producers focused on technical aspects of recording, but today they are pivotal in artist development, project management, and marketing strategies. This transformation is catalyzed by technological advancements that empower producers to simultaneously act as collaborators, songwriters, and sometimes as performers, making the profession more versatile and integral to an artist's success. With platforms like Bandcamp facilitating direct artist-audience interactions, producers now have unique opportunities to forge closer relationships with both artists and fans. This evolution not only enhances their creative impact but also redefines their career paths. How do you see the role of a music producer further evolving with future technological developments in the industry?
