⛰️🚘💚🇫🇷 {Out of office mode: ON! … with an option to stay connected IF needed}. After a successful Phocuswright Young Leaders Summit & Conference in Barcelona (follow up post to come later this month), I drove all the way to the Pyrénées mountains to enjoy nature and to feed my soul in deep need for greeeeeen and open spaces 💚 I’m currently in a place that didn’t come with WiFi, and it’s the perfect opportunity to test GlocalMe Life products, that we have launched with Carina Cheung’s team at Viva Technology show last month in Paris. 👩🏻💻🥾🏞️ Not that I am actively working (Work From Anywhere will be valid after my week off 😉), but I had to stay connected for a few reasons: ✔️ check in on emails every other day because of an upcoming strategic client event early July, ✔️ do some research for my hikes, plan adventures, download maps / itineraries to be able to access offline when I’m out there, ✔️ post my adventures on Instagram (follow me if you want to explore with me 📲 @aureliekrau), ✔️ keep in touch with my people 😃 👌🏼 And I have to admit, having reliable connectivity matters even when I’m not working! How comfortable & effective are you when working #remotely while moving around for a month? I just got back from 35 days trip to Dubai - Prague - Lisbon - Prague - Normandy - Reims - Dubai. The great thing about expat life is that you get to meet so many interesting people from all over the world. For the last couple of months I’ve been working remotely from the Regus Office in the Algarve with this great group of people. Our kids are all in the same school en we all work in Marketing for Tech companies. Even though we all work remotely for different companies it is great to learn from each other and have lunch “with colleagues” every once in a while 😊 #happyexpat #remotework #networking #marketing

Indeed, we do spend a lot of time on the beach. And we love the fact that Kalima is just 7 seconds away from a jump in the ocean. But, there is so much more to it! Coming together in a coworking and coliving home is also about collaboration and community. Between colivers and locals, we’ve had countless opportunities so far to collaborate. Be it workshops and skill sharing on AI or Google Ads. Salsa and language classes. Local events. And the list goes on and on. A 40 minute train ride away you are in Barcelona and can catch up at one of the many digital nomad and remote workers meet ups. Networking is always a good idea 😉 . But we also get to celebrate together, have fun and enjoy life to it’s fullest. Meaningful conversations at full moon on the beach, birthday parties, coffee breaks and a good laugh is what bonds. This is where new friendships are built, no matter your background, where you are from, at which point in your life you are. The 3 C's to consider when choosing a destination to work from: 1. Connectivity Is there good WiFi and connection? An obvious one but an important one. Cities tend to do well here, but smaller islands are always worth checking beforehand. I have a friend who went to nomad in the Philippines and had a terrible time with the connection there. Always make sure to check beforehand. You definitely don't want to be hotspotting the entire time! 2. Community Is there a good nomad and entrepreneurial community? This is key if you're like me and gain energy from meeting other inspiring people doing cool stuff. Places like Lisbon, Bangkok and Chiang Mai are all major hubs for entrepreneurs and digital nomads. I am still amazed at some of the fascinating people I have met in these places... 3. Cowork and Cafes Check if there are work spaces to head to as your 'office' - co-work spaces or laptop friendly cafes are great. Again, most cities will cater for this but if you are headed somewhere a bit more remote, then check out what's available beforehand.
