As we close out National Volunteer Week, we are thanking all our volunteers for the generous support they give in time and talent. This work is ongoing, and that’s OK, but the work is made lighter by the many hands that contribute to building strong, respectful, and accepting communities.
Take Jarred for example. After the volunteer program relaunch in 2022, Jarred was one of Boyle Street's first volunteers. He was integral in helping us roll out a new volunteer program that was sustainable and effective for our Community Members. Because of his commitment to our community, our folks really trust him and see him as an ally. He has put in the work and the time to understand and engage with vulnerable and marginalized folks to further combat the stigma that our community faces.
As Jarred said: “Being a part of the Boyle Street community has given me many beautiful memories and relationships. In volunteering, staff and community members welcome you into their lives and empower you to make the world a more understanding, connected, and dignifying place -- they help you be the change you want to see.”
