Purple houses are IN! Just kidding. But priming your brick with masonry-specific primer before you paint is always in. Most paint failures are caused by improper surface prep which includes not using the proper primer for the substrate you're working with. Best part is, paint manufacturers tell you exactly what you're supposed use for prep in their "Product Data Sheets". So when you're collecting bids on your next project, ask if they follow the guidelines in the data sheets.

The term "Defect Density" is not often heard in this industry, unless you're listening to me rail on the subject of Construction Defects. Defect Density isn't just the metric for the building as a whole but, also for every trade working. Consider the layers of the envelope; start with the primary barrier or the outermost layer; applied paint or coatings. Consider everything wrong in the selection and installation of the product to determine the Defect Density. Remember, the wrong product, installed perfectly may still be a defect. Contrarily, the perfect product, installed incorrectly is still a defect.

Do I love posting videos? Absolute not! With some good sunlight I had the opportunity to capture our repair process. Here we are after stage one of our restoration. Using 80 grit paper, we uniformly remove all surface scratches, taking special care not to leave swirling or new abrasions. A second, pre-polish phase will further fine the surface, preparing it for the final polishing step. Each executed step is built on the previous step. A meticulous process with attention to the fine details will achieve optimal results. ***** Magic Touch, Inc.
