Excellent summation from Les Binet here on maximising effectiveness, efficiency, ROI and enhancing margins by doing some simple things with media spend distribution but also the core of the effectiveness is creativity. I find creative is often observed as an overhead of advertising rather than an investment but the research doesn't lie - amazing creative is as big an ROI multiplier than other factors combined, so the payback of these combinations in the short, medium and long term is absolutely worth it.

Les Binet shared some great insight into the power of econometric modelling in marketing, and we couldn't agree with him more 📈 👏 Our Head of Data, Samuel Elsom, believes that "far too many day-to-day decisions on marketing budgets are made using short-term thinking because it's hard to account for longer-term strategic goals when the analytics that facilitates this is infrequent and outdated." At Charlie Oscar, we use high-frequency modelling to understand the effect of media across three key areas: its impact in the short term, how this changes in the long term, and how channels synergise together to improve those around them. Meaning that "brands can be suitably armed to make those daily critical decisions across their portfolio that are both highly relevant and based off key KPIs that merge short-term, long-term & interdependent thinking."

Always worth listening to Les Binet. Some useful charts and data in here if you're trying to convince the higher-ups of the value of good, well-planned brand marketing. - "Breakthrough creative" can increase ad effectiveness by a factor of almost 12x (!!) - Core of this is emotion - Interesting to see that online video is so effective - up there with TV - per a Meta study Basically you need to combine smart media planning and great, emotionally resonant ideas. Who knew?

Interesting insights from Les Binet looking at research about #advertising #effectiveness. 1) Unsurprisingly, the most effective media for short term #performance #marketing are digital media like #onlinevideo and paid search. But that's not the whole story... 2) Only about 40% of advertising spend comes back as revenue in the short term. When taking a long term view (60% of ad generated sales), and focusing on brand building, the most effective medium in the world today is still #TV, followed by online video. 3) Breakthrough Creative can increase ad spend ROI by x12. These stats reinforce what all savvy marketers should already understand: Video (broadcast or online) is the most effective form of advertising today. Marketers should be taking a long-term perspective about their brand building and messaging. And a powerful creative approach with emotional impact can breakthrough the noise and maximize ROAS.
